    mediocre generic novel. It has good elements initially but completely breaks down around chapter 52. The protagonist makes an irredeemably stupid decision with equally stupid reasoning. One quote from a someone meant to be a soldier who had no problem butchering numerous male humans and sentient non-human females like goblins (capable of complex emotions and communication, and whom he had tools to translate) stands out "The fact that I could not kill the young-looking elf-woman weighed on me. I knew elves were much older than they appeared, but I still related her to a young woman from my past life, and my instinct was to protect her." bur bur she has different genetalia bur bur even tho she tried to kill him, he feels compelled to protect her. He then uses his hidden powers to protect and release her, even though she could easily expose his highly sought-after powers, which can be absorbed by others to enhance

    Main char got a personality of a rock 🪨 i was interested because of the army theme but its really not that good It also lacks character inner monologue

      Care to elaborate? I started not long ago, but for now, it has failed to hook me, and I don't know if I should keep reading. The main character has no end-game goal other than surviving and no other advantages besides somewhat higher affinities. The writing style feels like I'm reading a diary. Instead of big battles, tactics, army building, etc., it's just some small 25-man team action.

        I don't wanna spoil but just that author suddenly took away 90% of his iq at around chapter 107~109 and he made the dumbest decisions imaginable Made me drop even when I had super high expectations I loved it so much and the 100 chapters were amazing but he really f*ck*d it up 🤦‍♂️

        The writing style gradually gets better down the line, but it's still kinda exposition and information heavy even till chapter 118 where I am now, plus the story is quite slow paced. Idk if the og commenter was of the same mind but without going into the spoiler territory, the most glaring issue that I see with the story is in how the mc deal with women, he has a glaring weakness both mentally (very passive in conversations and interactions with women) and physically ( meaning he distaste hurting females even if they want to kill him) When it comes to his interactions with women so far in the story. This constant passiveness is the main driving factor of plot progression, which is frowned upon in the fanatasy, action writing world.

    I want to read! But when I drive I listen to the audio book and when it comes the the stats... horrendous.

      Isn't it distracting to listen to an audio book while you drive? Also they stop constantly showing the stats after he gets out of training camp

      There are some gore and s*x but barely descriptive, those just get mentioned few times but very rarely
