Chapter 56: Xia Qiao (2)

Xia Qiao stretched out his arm to organize his books.

Xin Siyue looked a bit embarrassed as she stood up. She had stopped picking up his books because she was lost in thought. With only one book in her hands, she awkwardly placed it on top of his stack and said, “Sorry, I got distracted.”

Xia Qiao stared at her, raising his eyebrows and smiling. “Could I ask if you were thinking about me?”

“Huh?” The corner of Xin Siyue’s mouth twitched, as she found herself at a loss.

“You’re an exchange student from Shenjing City, right? Do we share the same major?” Xia Qiao asked further.

Xin Siyue nodded, but she didn’t expect Xia Qiao to continue. “If you were hosting a show right now, I think that reaction would have been a little too slow.”

Xin Siyue was completely out of her element, and after that final comment, it showed. He was right.

“When we interview guests, we ask questions. But a lot of times, the answers will include rhetorical questions of their own, which are the hardest to answer. So, when you’re conducting an interview, and you meet a guest who unexpectedly asks you questions, your reaction would only make the situation awkward,” he said, breaking the silence of her long pause.

Xin Siyue admitted that he was correct, but to have someone so talented advising someone like her was a bit unexpected.

Without waiting for Xin Siyue to finish her sentence, Xia Qiao’s smile grew bigger. He looked into her eyes and said, “I know you.”

“Yeah?”

“You’re Xin Siyue.”

“Oh my god!” Xin Siyue thought. He knew everything! Even though she had never interacted with him before; even though this was his first time seeing he. …how did he know?

Before she could even ask, Xia Qiao kept his smile and continued, “I still have things to do, so I’ll talk to you next time.”

Xin Siyue could only watch as he left, unable to figure out how he knew her.

Distracted by the run-in, Xin Siyue forgot that she needed to listen to Zhong Qing’s voice message.

Meanwhile, Chen Sinan had finished work and was dropping by the school to discuss his upcoming project with the principal, when someone bumped into him from behind. He had a sturdy frame, so he wasn’t hurt, but the smell of perfume made him frown.

Not bothering to even to turn around; all he heard was laughter coming from behind him. Then, he heard a clear female voice calling his name, “Chen Sinan!”

Still unconcerned, Chen Sinan kept walking until the person rushed in front to block his path.

He looked at the girl in front of him, with long hair, wearing a long dress that resembled a woman’s sailor uniform from the torso up. “This person doesn’t look as good as her.” It was the first thought that crossed his mind.

After realizing who “she” was, he suddenly frowned.

After seeing his demeanor change, the freshman girl who blocked him simply stood and said nothing.

Chen Sinan decided not to bother with her and kept walking. But the girl was persistent enough to block him again.

Chen Sinan finally spoke. “I hate women who don’t know how to tell good from the bad. Just like that woman.”

“If you say it a third time, I’ll personally make you pack your belongings and leave,” Chen Sinan growled without even looking in her direction.

The girl was stupefied and started crying.

Chen Sinan left as if nothing had happened.

Upon arriving at the principal’s office, Chen Sinan didn’t say a word. He simply seated himself with a particularly nasty expression from his earlier encounter.

Principal Zhao, who wore glasses, finally lifted his head to examine him. He was curious about where Chen Sinan’s anger originated. “What happened? Your anger is so intense, it’s spreading to my side of the table,” He asked earnestly.

Chen Sinan never knew why he couldn’t control his emotions when he was at school. He massaged his temples, and finally calmed down a little. “Nothing,” he answered coldly.

Without giving his opinion on the matter, Principal Zhao decided to change topics and asked, “We’ll be cutting the ribbon for A College’s new building in the next couple of days. Do you think I should go?”

As soon as Chen Sinan heard “A College,” he turned to look at Professor Zhao with an intense gaze. “Now that you mention it, when did we become so well acquainted with A College?”

For obvious reasons, Chen Sinan grew even moodier.

But Principal Zhao became more excited.

Being a youth was so much fun.

“CEO Chen, would you do me the favor of joining me in A City?” Principal Zhao asked with a smile.

Chen Sinan thought of how ungrateful the principal was, noting the man’s attitude and disregard for his feelings in the principal’s comments. He rejected almost immediately. “I don’t have time to waste.”

Principal Zhao didn’t bother trying to change Chen Sinan’s mind, instead, he continued to smile and said, “That’s unfortunate.”

After leaving school, Chen Sinan received a call from his childhood friend when entering his car. There were only a few people in Shengjin City who were both close to him and in the same age group.

Other people called his friend ‘Zhuan Zi,’ but Chen Sinan never wanted to use that name. Zhuan Zhu was curious as to why, and even asked him once.

Chen Sinan glanced at him lazily and chuckled. “Are you philosophical like Zhuan Zi?”

Zhuan Zhu nearly choked. ‘Was he being sarcastic?’ But when he thought of his barely passing grades, he relented.
