First, this is a good read story wise as it takes place over years of time while not feeling rushed or with to little. The characters stay decently interesting outside of a few in particular (Li Song & Wei Chang Hong) these two characters are awful to say the least and they tend to do nothing but try to drag down a good storyline. One just wants to forcefully possess the FL physically, along with a 2 chapter story later that almost ruined it for me. The other is possessive in an overprotective way which makes his entire character feel to boring for the story. In my honest opinion it's well worth the read but I had to mentally add years to the characters as i read because they were just simply way to young and it was just weird.

Okay. So first, I don't know about you but I kinda feel the same vibes of Shen Miao of ROTMEOML to Wei Luo (not totally though, just a little) maybe because both of them are independent and mature after rebirth. At first, I honestly disliked the way she (Wei Luo) tried to meddled between the Wei Chang Yin and Liang Yu Rong, I mean, I understand that LYR is important to her but still, she shouldn't control their feelings. Anyway, I can't say anything about Zhao Jie's excessive pampering and love because he's just tooooo sweet and definitely not realistic (but I'm very much fine with that). Aside from Zhao Jie as my favorite male character, there's Wei Chang Hong as well. Too bad there's no side story about WCH. I really want the both of them to reconcile though. About Jiang Miao Lan, although it seems heartless but I kinda approve of Wei Luo's attitude towards her. No matter how hurt she must've been, it's never be a valid reason to abandon her children. I slightly feel bad about Wei Zheng btw. I mean, yes, it's her fault for being jealous and ambitious but still, experiencing such humiliation and violation, that's just too harsh where in fact, if only there's an adult that carefully raised her when she was a child, maybe she won't grow up like that. After all, aside from Du-shi(which is her mother who isn't a good role model), no one cared about her. Not even her father cared about her. And I feel bad about Gao Dan Yang as well. If the people around her didn't incite her fantasy of marrying Zhao Jie since young, she won't be deeply in love with him. And she didn't scheme against Ah Luo aside from that time where she tried to choke her. And if I feel bad about them, I feel really, really bad about Song Hui. He's such a gentleman and he truly cared about Ah Luo but in the end, he was left with a broken heart. In this part, I honestly thought that Wei Luo is really heartless. She's resolute that she won't marry him but she's been good to him for years despite knowing that Song Hui acknowledged her as his fiancé. And about the emperor and empress, I honestly kind of feel sad about their love story. I imagine their love story to started with a fierce lady from a military lineage and the prince who's also proud and haughty then later on softening each other's heart and fighting side by side. It would've been a good story if only the emperor wasn't blinded by imperial power and he'd been a one-woman man, but too bad he failed to do that. So although I feel sad for their story, I still like the resolute attitude of the empress. And lastly, Li Song was really the one who gave me complicated feelings. The more he appear as the story progresses, he's character development is really heart-swaying. And don't even ask me about what happened in chapter 169, because I feel like cheating to my dear Prince Jing because I feel like there's a chemistry between Li Song and Wei Luo (in that timeline) and it could've been sweet and perfect but of course, I still prefer Zhao Jie. Over all, I really like this. The plot, the fluff and the character development of each character

I felt bad with how Wei Zheng end up. Yes she was not good however she was not completely evil. I am a woman myself and she was defiled by many men. Her scheme gone wrong end up marrying different man was enough punishment for her scheme. I couldn't blame WeiZheng for her actions since she wasn't love and guided unlike the female. My heart also goes with Dan Yang , she was given false hope by the empress. Imagine it was instilled in your mind since birth that she will marry Zhao Jie, you patiently waited for so many years but it turns out it won't happen. Her suffering such as being abuse and experience miscarriage is too much. To summarize the author was extremely generous to the FL and ML but too extreme to other character. The suffering of Dan Yang and especially Wei Zheng was unjustified.

My first problem with this novel is both of the main characters are bad personalities in such a simple way. The 2nd problem is that many side characters end up heart-broken, in pain and dead because of their selfish interests and cunning ways. Even the ones who did nothing wrong end up suffering. It's just SO UNSATISFIYING. I read the whole story for the drama while pitying everyone except FL, ML and a couple of people obviously deserved their fate. 1 star because the main characters are so unlikeable and believe me I'll fall for any FL and ML that's created for overprotection and devotion but these two were an exception. The only thing that's good was Fuyuneko's translation.

I had fun reading this novel. I liked that it has a reasonable number of chapters. The characters, though already typical in C- novels, are totally the kind of leads that I love reading about. The ML is a domineering and powerful man who instantly changes whrn it comes to the FL. The FL is the kind of female lead that I really love. She was a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tough. I also find her "vanity" very endearing and empowering as a female reader. I don't wanna elaborate on it too much.

The ML is the typical domineering type, that is devoted to the FL. The FL is a bit too egotistical and naive as well as not black bellied enough, but overall the story is quite enjoyable.
