Chapter 67: Chapter 67 The Mission Begins

Du Qishan didn’t spend too much time thinking about what Chu Yunsheng said. He soon agreed with Chu Yunsheng’s conditions. After all, he did not have other choices. The flaming monster was too powerful. It frightened them even just when they thought about it.

Because Chu Yunsheng had already killed Gan Ziqiang, so Yao Xiang didn’t need to hide outside anymore. He was asked to stay with the troops because what Chu Yunsheng was going to do would be very dangerous, so he could not stay with Chu Yunsheng.

Chu Yunsheng planned to attack those meat worms. According to Professor Sun, those monsters should belong to Nephrozoa. Chu Yunsheng had seen one before. The monster’s body was about ten meters long, and they often liked to stay near the branches in the middle of those giant plants, the color of their bodies could be changed to disguise themselves as giant branches or roots.

In addition to that, although the giant strange fruits were the meat worms’ main food, they also eat humans and those red-eyed monsters. Chu Yunsheng had even discovered some terrifying monster’s bodies in their excrement. He had never seen those monsters’ remains before. Those remains were small and there were very sharp teeth and claws. It didn’t belong to any monsters he had seen in the fog. He could not help but wonder why he didn’t see any live ones in the fog after he discovered the strange monsters’ remains.

Meat worms did not have scales or shells, they were just one pile of meat and did not seem to have any defence ability. But the truth was, even when Chu Yunsheng used the three sword moves on one of them, he could not even injure it. That pile of meat was sticky, slippery and had a very strong elasticity. He had never seen anything that could stretch that long before! Every time when he tried to cut it, the sword would thrust its skin deep into its body without causing a wound.

But it did not mean that he did not have another way to deal with it. For the time being, he could drain a meat worm’s energy by pouring red-shelled insects’ corrosive secretions on its skin. With this method, the elasticity of the meat worm’s skin would be reduced, and then he could use Qian Bi sword to chop it into several chunks.

He had stored a large amount of red-shelled insects’ secretions. Now it was time to put it into use. Although it consumed him a great amount of Yuan Qi every time when he tried to kill a meat worm, this was what he wanted. Because it would speed up his Yuan Qi cultivation cycles.

He could also spend his Yuan Qi energy on making many offensive talismans, but he only had a dozen absorption talismans left, so if he chose to do it that way, he would run out of backups talismans to supply him a large amount of Yuan Qi when he needed to break through Yuan Tian stage one’s barrier.

He needed to kill the monsters and use their energy to kill more of them.

The cultivation process for Yuan Tian stage one wasn’t sophisticated, he just needed to repeat Yuan Qi circulation inside his body again and again. It was like building a solid base for higher levels, there was no shortcut he could take.

It was simple, but it didn’t mean it was easy. It was simple, but it didn’t mean it was weak. When he could perfectly perform the simplest sword move, then it would become a powerful skill. Yuan Tian stage one was just like that.

In terms of the rules and principles of incantations, only until when he reached Yuan Tian stage two, would he be able to study and understand them.

This was the method that the ancient book had taught him. From knowing nothing to imitation, then gradually realized the principles, and finally understood it. It was a step by step process to help him steadily build up his power.

……

Looking at his watch, Chu Yunsheng noticed that there were five hours left before the fog wall changed its sequences. Taking the latest channel map that showed the connections between each fog section from Fang Ziweng, he told Commander Du that he would return to Jin Jiang building in five hours, but the troop must get the monster’s bodies ready by that time.

He also told them that in the next three days, he would also return to the building every twelve hours. However, it was not only for the monsters’ bodies, but also for the latest channel map that the professors deduced.

Red-eyed monsters did not have many Yuan Qi, but their number was incredibly huge. Every time when he encountered one, he would end up attracting many of them, so on the way to hunt meat worms, he always tried to avoid them. Luckily, meat worms often appeared in the middle of giant tree trunks, it saved him a lot of trouble.

The bird-shaped flaming monster was the most dangerous master in the fog. Every time when it flapped its imaginary-like flaming wings, the flames would be tossed out from its wings to form many blazing fireballs, and then a tremendous amount of fire elemental Yuan Qi would be unleashed. Even the weaker awakened warriors would be burned into ashes by those fireballs, not to mention the ordinary human beings.

The troops had already left the building. Not only did they need to collect the monsters’ bodies, but also they needed to recruit as many awakened warriors as possible. Everyone was preparing themselves for the mission of breaking the fog wall.

Chu Yunsheng had chosen a direction that was opposite to the troops’. From section nine, he chose to go to the central city in section two first. It was the area where he had been before.

This area used to be the most prosperous area in Kun city, the business rate for the shops in this area used to be extremely high. But it did not stop people from opening shops one after another. But now, all Chu Yunsheng could see were the broken shops left abandoned in the fog.

All the buildings were covered by giant plants. Chu Yunsheng chose a plant root that was over two meters thick, and climbed upwards slowly. The root was quite slippery, and it was slowly moving from time to time as if it was alive. He then jumped from one root to another root, and climbed into a building through its windows.

Soon after he got inside that building, he noticed that a meat worm was hunting its prey on the other side of the building. He quickly turned around and headed back to the window he climbed in, and decided to use the root as his cover to go around the building, and to attack the meat worm by surprise.

The building he was in used to be a book stored. Books were scattered everywhere on the floor, and half of them were burned. It seemed like someone was trying to burn them to get warm. However, strangely, he only discovered a few bodies, and no one else seemed to be alive inside the building.

Stepping on the paper ashes and scattered books, he soon returned to the giant root and started to climb higher. He stopped when he reached another thinner root that intersected the one he was climbing.

The thinner root was directly connected to the branch that the meat worm was staying.

Its prey were the red-eyed monsters that were right below its branch. There were around four of them.

Meat worms’ hunting technique was very simple, two of its mouths, one at the front and one at back, could be rapidly expanded to such the air in. Even though red-eyed monsters often tried their best to fly away, they would still be sucked into those mouths.

Chu Yunsheng had already taken out a bag that was made of the red-shelled insect’s belly. Inside of it, it was filled with the corrosive secretion. He then slowly climbed down until he reached another root’s intersection.

He stopped and waited until there was only one red-eyed monster left, then he lightly jumped off the intersection and slid down the root. As he used his left hand to open the bag, the whole bag’s corrosive secretion was poured onto the worm’s body, some of it even fell into the monster’s mouth!

Meat worms’ did not have any eyes. They relied on their bodies to detect the movements and the smells in the surroundings.

Because Chu Yunsheng had an energy shield and combat armor, it completely stopped his scent from spreading out, and also because when climbing down the root he did not make any big movements, so only when he commenced the attack did the meat worm notice that he was near.

But it was too late for it to react, Chu Yunsheng was too close to it, and the corrosive secretion had already been spread all over its body. Sensing the danger, it started to twist its body violently. It had already given up on hunting the last red-eyed monster, instead, it was trying to crawl along the branch, heading straight towards Chu Yunsheng.
