Dragon Emperor, Martial God
Chapter 96: A Step Slower!

Upon seeing Xue Meining enter the living room, Tang Meng put out his cigarette in a rush before standing up. With a mocking smile, he says, “Little Ning, you…”

“You what?! Don’t you remember me telling you not to call me that!” Xue Meining retorted, her shy expression changing instantly as she glares at Tang Meng fiercely.

In front of Ling Yun’s family, she behaved like a demure and modest maiden. However, in the face of Tang Meng, she revealed her true colors.

“Yes yes yes!” Tang Meng replied. Even he knows that he should not incur the wrath of this stubborn lady. After all her grandfather is that miracle doctor. If his family were to fall sick, having the miracle doctor to treat them would means saving their lives!

Of course, if Tang Meng was aware of Ling Yun’s medical skills which surpassed even that of the miracle doctor’s things would be vastly different. His attitude towards Xue Meining would naturally be more arrogant.

As for Ling Yun, he was having fun seeing Xue Meining bullying Tang Meng. Unable to hold back his smile, he cleared his throat before speaking.

“Guys, stop fooling around, tonight I have many things to shift back, let’s all get to work!” Once said, he walked back into his room.

Grateful for the help, Tang Meng immediately nodded his head at Xue Meining. He then rushes into Ling Yun’s room, as if he was escaping a disaster.

“Ehm, carry all these books on the shelf as well as those on the study table to the car. That will save us some trouble!” Ling Yun ordered.

Understanding his intentions, Tang Meng probed no further and started shifting the books as instructed.

For Man, there are supposed to be two great ordeals in life. One being love and the other being death.

However, there is actually one more ordeal, which was pain.

After being beaten by five to six riot batons at the same time, Tian Xiaoguang finally remembered the sensation. Anyone would remember after such a merciless beating. During the fight, Ling Yun had used him as a human shield to block all the baton blows. As a result, his brain, shoulders, chest, as well as his arms, suffered severe injuries.

Fortunately, the riot batons were covered with a layer of rubber. Or else, Tian Xiaoguang would have turned into a cripple for sure.

After undergoing treatment, Tian Xiaoguang regained consciousness. Yet the moment he woke up he wished that he had remained unconscious. This was because the pain he felt was simply unbearable.

A person who exemplifies the word brotherhood, Daozi had been in the hospital beside Tian Xiaoguang since morning.

“Brother, sorry that big brother came too late. It’s been hard on you, it’s all big brother’s fault!” Daozi exclaimed in a guilty tone the moment he saw Tian Xiaoguang waking up. Daozi’s face was full of regret.

That was because of the fact that Daozi had only been able to do whatever he wanted in Linjiang road because of this band of brothers and their connections. Thus, he was heartbroken to see one of them in such a state.

“Big brother Dao, you… you’re not to be blamed for this. That brat is indeed strong, *cough* in less than a minute all seven of us were beaten down…” Tian Xiaoguang uttered softly as he gritted his teeth in pain. At the same time, Li Kun, Wang Bo, and the gang who were lying in the same ward lowered their head shamefully. As shameful as they were, they had no choice but to truthfully admit what happened.

Daozi frowned as he nodded his head before speaking to Tian Xiaoguang.

“Brother, I’ve already received news from the others. The guy that beat you up is none other than Ling Yun, the son of Qin Qiuyue from The People’s clinic. Don’t worry, big brother’s got everything covered. Since it isn’t easy for us to take action in the day, I shall bring some guys and pay their clinic a visit tonight. We will break both of Ling Yun’s legs. After that, you can do whatever you want with him.” Daozi exclaimed calmly as if breaking a person’s legs was as common as something one would see on the streets daily.

“Uh… big brother, does my uncle know about what happened?” Tian Xiaoguang asked. Being a young man in his early twenties and being beaten to such a state. Naturally, the first thing that came to mind was his family.

Daozi’s forehead creased, the scar on his face twitching slightly as he scratched his head.

“Well, uncle Tian already knows everything. However, he has a meeting today so he decided to visit you another day. He says that you should use today to rest up and recuperate.”

In contrast, Daozi was having a different set of thoughts in his mind. A meeting? Bullshit! Your uncle is lying in a ward in this very hospital too! On the third floor! He thought inwardly.

It was roughly 10 am in the late morning when Daozi had received a call from Tian Botao. He was told that the man was in the hospital and that he was to come to meet him. As Daozi was in Tian Xiaoguang’s ward he hurriedly rushed to the third floor to meet him.

The moment he entered Tian Botao’s ward he had a shock of his life. Tian Botao’s face was swollen like a pumpkin, his arm attached with an IV drip.

Having gone through his share of fights, Daozi immediately knew that Tian Botao’s injuries were from a fight. Looking at him, Daozi could not help but feel amused at how connected uncle and nephew were. To think that they would even get beaten up at the same time!

He walked straight to Tian Botao’s bedside before asking him who the culprit was. To his horror, it was Ling Yun as well! He was absolutely stupefied!

It seems that after being beaten to a pulp by Ling Yun and Tang Meng, he was reluctant to return home. Thus, after much deliberation, Tian Botao decided to go to the hospital to receive treatment. He wanted to reduce the swelling in his face above all else. After all, it was his face and reputation that was at risk!

He even called his wife and lied to her that a member of parliament was coming for a visit. Thus he had no choice but to ‘entertain’ him. As a result, he was not going home. Once done he followed procedures and was admitted into the hospital.

Hades Tian is not a person who would forget grudges. Thus, since last night he had been thinking of ways to get back at Qin Qiuyue and her family. First, he would get Daozi to give Qin Qiuyue a good scare to remind her where she stands. Next, he would get his friends from the hygiene bureau to find some excuse to close down her clinic. Finally, when the time came for the demolition of this district he will make sure she got absolutely no remuneration.

This way, he is sure that Qin Qiuyue will come begging him for mercy. When that time comes he will then be able to do whatever he wants with the whole family. Having decided all these last night, that was why he called Daozi over today. What surprised him was the speed at which Daozi arrived after the call.

“Daozi, how did you arrive so fast? Were you in the hospital all along?” Tian Botao asked suspiciously. Looking at Daozi, who looked injury free, he thought, “Did he knock another woman up? And is here for her abortion?”

Daozi looked awkwardly at him before giving in and murmuring, “Alright, I’ll be honest with you…”

Thus, Daozi told Tian Botao about how Tian Xiaoguang and gang got sent to the same hospital by Ling Yun. With the cat out of the bag, Tian Botao was infuriated, his swollen face becoming even more distorted. What a joke! For both uncle and nephew to be sent to the same hospital by the same guy!

To Tian Botao this was the pinnacle of shame and humiliation. It was no different from Ling Yun taking a dump on every single one of his ancestral tombstones!

That was when he gave Daozi the order. He was to bring some men that night to wreck The People’s Clinic and break both of Ling Yun’s legs. Next, they would then lock Ling Yun up till Tian Xiaoguang recovers. After that Tian Xiaoguang could decide what he wanted to do with him.

That being said, even till now, Tian Botao still harbors lecherous intent towards Qin Qiuyue. Hence, he made sure to tell Daozi to leave her alone. Daozi who was well aware of Tian Botao’s lecherous nature did not probe any further. Instead, he simply kept an indignant expression towards what happened as he nodded his head.

After further discussion with Daozi, Tian Botao reminded him not to reveal to his nephew that he was in the hospital. Once done he sent Daozi on his way. This is the reason why Daozi said that Tian Botao had a ‘meeting’ to attend to.

“Brother, don’t you worry, big brother’s gonna make sure you don’t get the short end of the straw. Besides uncle Tian already made it clear to me to settle this matter smoothly. I’ll make sure you get the last laugh at Ling Yun!”

Although Daozi meant what he said, he is also curious about the brat called Ling Yun. After all, he was the one who wrecked his backer, Tian Botao. In addition, he even beat up the ‘uniformed bandits’, the enforcement officers. Who exactly was this crazy fellow?

“Uhh… It’s so painful. Big brother, be on your guard, that Ling Yun isn’t an ordinary person. Plus, he has some ridiculous strength! Make sure you bring more men, even with seven of us we could not hold him back!” Tian Xiaoguang warned Daozi.

Daozi merely gave him a cold smile, his scar twitching slightly as his eyes sharpened; giving off an intimidating aura. He proclaimed, “So what if he is a good fighter? Do you think he can fight properly against my four great warriors? Do you think he can beat me, your big brother? Have you forgotten who your big brother is?”

Daozi stood up before reassuring Tian Xiaoguang, “Don’t worry brother, tonight no one can stop your big brother from tearing down that clinic. As long as Ling Yun remains in Qingshui, I’ll make sure to break his legs! Now rest up, I’ve got to go gather up the men.”

Daozi then left the hospital and drove home. He then gathered his four great warriors. Lighting a cigarette, Daozi then immersed himself in deep thought for a while. After a while, he looked at the four guys before him and finally spoke.

“Gather each of your men, tonight at nine, we will be paying The People’s Clinic a visit!”

“This area is gonna be demolished soon, we will have to pluck out the thorns sooner or later. Just treat this as the opening act!”

……

Back in The People’s clinic, late night, fifteen minutes from nine o’clock.

Having already finished the dumplings, Li Hongmei had gone back to tend to her store.

“Mother, we will be going back to school now, if anything happens just give me a call” Ling Yun reminded Qin Qiuyue.

“Uhn, now bring this set of clothing back too. Remember to focus on your studies when you get back to school. Mummy will be hoping for good news.”

Qin Qiuyue had a gentle smile as she tidied Ling Yun’s shirt. Her affectionate gaze carried a sense of expectation.

“Don’t worry mother, I’ll not disappoint you!” Ling Yun answered calmly as he nodded his head.

“Well said!”

Xue Meining and Tang Meng then followed up with their farewells. Once done, Qin Qiuyue then sent them off to the entrance of the clinic.

In front of Qin Qiuyue and Tang Meng, Xue Meining hooked her arm around Ling Yun’s naturally. It was as if she was scared he would run away.

Thus, Ling Yun had no choice but to board her Ferrari. As he turns his head to look at Ning Lingyu he was surprised to see that for the first time she willingly boarded Tang Meng’s car alone. As for Tang Meng, he was so excited that it was a surprise that he was not trembling from the excitement.

Ling Yun smiled gently as he shook his head. After waving goodbye to his mother, Ling Yun was just about to enter the Ferrari when he noticed something amiss. And that was the fact that there was a long stretch of blinking headlights as numerous cars approached the clinic.

Ling Yun squinted his eyes for a closer look as he instinctively touched the two boxes of needles at his waist. He then whispered under his breath, “Damn, thank goodness I left home a little later!”
