Summary

In this latest work by Lord of the Mysteries author, Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, be prepared for a well-thought out and detailed apocalyptic, cyberpunk world with a setting superseding Lord of the Mysteries!

Our protagonist, Shang Jianyao, is crazy—literally crazy, at least that’s what the doctors said. Living in a huge, underground building of Pangu Biology, one of the few remaining factions in this apocalyptic wasteland known as the Ashlands, he acts in unfathomable ways that’s head-scratching, comical, and shrewd. So is he really crazy? Probably.

He has a grand dream: to save all of humanity.

Intricately tied to this dream is something everyone in the Ashlands believes in: Deep in a particular ruin buried away by danger and famine, a path leading to a new world awaits. To step into the new world, one only needs to find a special key and open that certain door.

There, the land is bountiful, as if milk and honey flows freely.

The sunlight is dazzling, as if all coldness and darkness are washed away.

The people will no longer have to face desolation, monsters, infections, mutations, and all kinds of dangers.

There, children are joyous, adults are happy, everything is fine as they are supposed to be.

Every Antiquarian, Ruin Hunter, and Historian roaming the Ashlands knows: That’s the New World.

I would say LOTM, imo it is the best novel you could possibly read on this site. + If you read LOTM before this, it just makes it so much more enjoyable.

Okay. . . so I’m already at chapter 86 and I’m thinking that this might’ve been a story waaaayyy before LOTM? *The city reminds me a lot of that one ritual advancement of the fool pathway in LOTM. . . Spoiler Alertthe one where they must build a puppet town? *The way Galoran calls the Kalendaria “Celestial Worthy of Immeasurable for blessings“ is very suspicious, sounded a bit like the one in lotm. . . At first I thought it’s just a coincidence, but when it was said that there are traces of that Kalendaria in that city, that’s when I had a hunch that maybe this is the celestial worthy from lotm before he even became an “above sequence”. .Not sure tho. . .

What I love about the LOTM author is that in her novels (including this) the abilities are not flashy or look awesome but their technical usage is very terrifying that always give me the chills when I read them, this is one of the MANY key-points that set her novel apart from the others and makes it truly unique. Take Klein and Amon as an example(LOTM), their abilities might fool you to think it's not that awesome or powerful but their usage is truly terrifying and op as hell.

In one instance you think that these abilities are severly underpowered but then when used, you suddenly realized its not bad and its balanced in a way. But then when more applications of the abilities are discovered and used, it borders on the line of bullshittery. Thats what i felt when reading LOTM lmao

I have to disagree with your statement, personally I think it's not on the border of bullshittery like you said, I just think it's well-deserved and correlates with their pathway, I mean you have to admit once they are an [angel] they become a whole different entity that should be given op powers to honor their sequence, the applications are very creative and well thought, not like 85% of novels whereas it's a simple hack and slash. In the end, this is what I think.

I discovered that the author has a taste for abilities that don't sound awesome. But in actually application they are quiet scary... That's if you know how to use them properly. Take klein from LOTM for example.

If you people read the last chapter of LOTM, you will know that this isn't the continuation, that will start after this novel ends

I'm just about to read, so I'm not sure. But if it's like how the 'Lord of the Mysteries' progress, it'll take a while.
