Gacha Sovereign
Chapter 36: Duel

Alex was now ranked at 11 in grade ranking, he saw Cornel's ranking was 25 and Alicia was in 101. He also saw Princess Mia's name, she was rank 9, two ranks above Alex. And the last was Firia who was in rank 279.

When Alex was inside the forest, he was like a killing machine. If not because he was injured and forced to heal his wound for a week, maybe he could come up as rank 1.

"That's impossible," someone shouted after the result was announced.

Turned out, Cornel was the one who shouted from the top of his lungs.

"You are only a commoner and you are still a first-grade student. There's no way you can kill a rank 5 monster. That's right, you must have cheated."

Alex frowned, he said coldly, "You can say anything you want, but you can't accuse me like that without any proof."

"Proof? I don't need proof because my words are evidence. That's right if you want proof, I challenge you to a duel. I will defeat you and everyone will know you have cheated in this grade ranking."

"You..." Alicia glared at him furiously, she never expected Cornel would go as far as challenging Alex to a duel.

"Princess...Why can't you see that he is cheating? He is only a commoner so he tried his best by cheating. He is not worthy of you, Princess Alicia."

"In two days at the arena," Alex coldly said and he left.

"Look at him! He is escaping now, he doesn't want to embarrass himself."

"You..." she glared at Cornel and left following Alex.

Alicia managed to follow Alex to their room and she saw him there anxiously.

"Alex..." she worried about Alex.

"I'm fine, Princess. You don't need to worry about me. All in all, I benefit a lot from the Night Forest. He won't be able to bother me with those insults and accusations."

"That's good then," she was relieved to see Alex became more confident and not giving a damn about things like this.

'System, how many tickets did I get?'

[273 tickets, Host]

'How many that I have accumulated?'

[766 tickets, Host]

'I see'

The next day, he went to see the dean at his office.

"Teacher," he greeted the dean.

"Alex, you have come. The ingredients for the rank 2 pill already come."

"Okay," Alex heard about this and he was very eager to refine his pills.

"But you can't refine them today."

Alex's mood went down and the dean explained, "You better rest for today. And I also want to talk about something with you."

"What is it, Teacher?"

"I saw you make a flame wave using a sword. I want to forbid you using that move again."

"Why?" Alex was confused as to why he was forbidden to use this move.

"When you use that skill. The feeling of my fire in my body was suppressed. So if you use it where other people present, they will know your Pure Fire Element."

"I see," Alex nodded, he wasn't aware his flame wave could give such an effect to other people near him.

"And also, I observed you used Sword Intent when you killed the bear."

"Oh..." Alex just nodded again. He was still confused with that energy, he knew now that energy was called Sword Intent.

"There are many great people who are very skillful in using swords. They have a common job called Sword Saint. And the minimum requirement to get that job is mastering a Sword Intent. Try to check your status, there must be Sword Saint in your job."

Alex stared at the dean confusedly and he spoke in his mind 'System!'

The dean wasn't shocked by this because he knew that the status card was imprinted in his body. Alex could make it appear and disappear whenever he wanted to. All people have this card in their bodies, this card was miraculous. And people could see their status in their mind without speaking. But what he didn't know was that Alex could see his status with the System. No one had this kind of System as far as Alex was concerned.

Name: Alexander Sirius (Early Phase Qi Gathering Stage)

Job: Adventurer (Primary), Alchemist (Secondary), Sword Saint (Secondary)

Rank : 3

Level: 386

STR: 440

AGI: 410

VIT: 421

DEX: 430

INT: 401

True, he now had a Sword Saint as a job.

"Yes, I get Sword Saint as my secondary job," he confirmed his secondary job to the dean.

"Secondary?" the dean was now confused, Sword Saint was one of the high-level jobs. Usually, people who had a Sword Saint as their job would make it as their primary instead of secondary job. "If that's the case, tell me what's your primary job then?"

"Adventurer," Alex said casually.

Hearing this, the dean almost vomited blood. He got really angry, "What are you doing? Why are you keeping such a useless job as your primary job? Don't tell me you don't know how to change your job?"

"I can change them? I didn't know that?" Alex innocently asked.

Dean's face was darkened. He tried to calm down for a while, he forgot that Alex came from another world. No wonder he was very ignorant about this. He sighed, "You can change them with your mind."

"Let me try," he closed his eyes and he instantly tried to change his job within his mind.

Name: Alexander Sirius (Early Phase Qi Gathering Stage)

Job: Sword Saint (Primary), Adventurer (Secondary), Alchemist (Secondary),

Rank : 3

Level: 386

STR: 440

AGI: 410

VIT: 421

DEX: 430

INT: 401

"Oh, it's a success! I have changed it into my primary job now," but Alex was confused with one thing, "Why do I need to change the adventurer job to secondary?"

"Don't tell me, you also don't know about the benefit of the primary job?"

Alex can only shake his head since he was clueless about this too.

"Primary job has a boosting effect according to the job. Take your Sword Saint as an example. If you use Sword Saint as your primary job, though it won't boost you in attack power, your comprehension speed in the sword will increase significantly. Another example is your Alchemist job, this job will boost your comprehension speed for alchemy. But it will only have an effect after you put that job as your primary job. Now, do you understand better about this?" he angrily explained.

"Uh...I understand," he didn't know about this at first. If he knew this from the beginning he would constantly change his job according to the current needs. Especially when he refined his pills.

"If other people want to look at your card, you can hide your secondary job. So, when you let them see your card you can put your Adventurer job as primary and hide your secondary job."

The dean continued, "Well whatever. I heard you are going to a battle with a second-grade student tomorrow?"

"Yes, that's true. It's inevitable since he kept doubting my skills and results the other day."

"Haiz, he would just embarrass himself tomorrow. We will start refining the pills tomorrow after your battle. You can go back now."

"Okay, Teacher."

Alex went back to his room and as usual, Alicia was waiting for him. She asked him for the usual training. And of course, after a few hours, Alicia could only lay down tiredly on the floor. She never landed a hit on Alex, but this training gave her a huge benefit. Especially when she was fighting with the monsters at Night Forest, even though she was surrounded by monsters she could still fight with her staff.

The next day, Alex trained together with Firia after the class ended just like they usually did. But Firia kept nagging at him and told Alex that it was already time to head to the arena. After half an hour of nagging, Alex surrendered and he decided to go to the arena.

In the arena, the audience was full even though it was a day off for them after finishing the grade ranking. They were curious about this second-grade genius facing a first-grade super genius. Didn't want to miss it, the dean was also present among the audiences.

In the arena, Cornel was already waiting for him for a half-hour.

"Heh...It seemed your student didn't have any courage," an old man said. This old man was Cornel's teacher and he was a rank 7 swordsman.

The dean heard this and he could only shake his head, "It's better if he doesn't come. If not, your student's pride will be crushed by him. It will just become plain bullying for your student."

"You...You can only say that because he doesn't come," he sneered.

"Haha..." the dean simply laughed away.

"It seems that he doesn't dare to get here. He knows that he was cheating and he ran away from the duel he suggested himself. That's why he doesn't need to face all of these people and embarrass himself," he sneered.

"That's right, he's scared of Sir Cornel," one of Cornel's lackeys said.

But suddenly, the audience cheered when they saw Alex had come to the arena. He was seen slowly walking to the arena without expressing any worry or fear.

"You finally come. I thought you would get scared since I've exposed you for cheating in the grade ranking the other day. You don't deserve Princess Alicia at all!"

Alex ignored him, he only looked at the referee and said, "Please start."

"You..." Cornel was angry when he got ignored by Alex.

The referee checked them once again to ensure things and he said, "The match starts!"

"Die!" Cornel immediately charged at him with his sword.

Alex didn't even bother using his sword, he just dodged Cornel effortlessly again and again.

The match went by like that for a few minutes and Cornel was infuriated, "Don't just escape if you have any courage left."

"..." Alex only kept his silence while dodging.

"You can only escape, huh? What right do you have to be standing beside her? Don't worry, after I kill you here I will take good care of her," he grinned evilly.

Hearing this, Alex could only frown. He was fine if he was insulted but he didn't want Alicia to get brought in it tpp. He then decided to end this match sooner than he expected.

He grabbed his sword on his waist and swung it to Cornel's weapon, Alex targeted his weapon specifically.

'Clang' Cornel's weapon was flown away and then Alex kicked Cornel's abdomen to vent his anger. Alex jumped in Cornel's direction and put his sword on Cornel's neck.

"Match ends, Alexander wins!"

Alex nodded and he sheathed his sword and turned back, he didn't want to be bothered by him. Just when he was walking away from the arena.

"No...This is impossible! You have cheated, you don't have any chivalry. I can't lose to a commoner like him!" Cornel grabbed his sword once again and he immediately charged to Alex, "Die!"

Alex frowned and he closed his eyes, "With my sword in my hand. If I don't want to cut, even the most fragile leaf won't be cut. If I want to cut, even Heaven and Earth won't be spared."

'Sword Intent'

When the two swords clashed, Cornel's weapon didn't have a stand and it immediately broke away.

That was true, Cornel's sword was split into two and he was shocked by this.

"That's Sword Intent!" a few teachers stood up when looking at this. Even Cornel's teacher was stunned too. He too was a sword practitioner, but he still wasn't able to conceal a Sword Intent. But this 17 years old young man had already concealed his Sword Intent.

Of course, Cornel didn't notice any of this and he went berserk, "No...No this is impossible. My sword is a rank 4 mithril sword. You must be cheating! There's no way your puny iron sword can cut my sword. That's right, your teacher is the dean. He is a master of forging, so he must give you this sword. Right, you only win because of this sword. It's not your true ability, just admit it already!"

Alex simply looked at the referee and gave his sword to him.

"This is only a normal iron sword," the referee said after examining Alex's sword for a while and he gave it back to Alex.

"No! This is impossible. How can you cut my weapon?" he felt his face slapped a few times in the arena and he was desperate. He wasn't so sure how to walk in the academy after losing to Alex like this.

Alex looked at the referee, "He already broke away many rules, so this is only self-defense."

Alex kicked Cornel's abdomen, but this time with his full power because he wanted to vent his frustration from Cornel's blabbering. Cornel was blown away and crashed to the wall outside the arena and passed out. This injury will leave him a few months to heal.

"Bastard!" Cornel's teacher was angry to see what Alex did to his student. He sent a sword wave to Alex to kill him.

'Sword Intent'

Alex tried to cut this sword wave with his Sword Intent. He was pushed back by this sword wave.

"Ha..." Alex roared. He put all his power into his sword.

He managed to cut this powerful sword wave made by a rank 7 swordsman, but this left him with many internal injuries, he coughed some blood.

"Alex," Alicia and Firia shouted and they immediately ran to Alex.
