Chapter 40: Fighting The Boss

Seeing the snake moving toward him, Alex called a spear from the System and threw it to the snake's face. But the snake merely opened its mouth and spitted something to the spear.

The spear was melted and Alex frowned seeing that.

'This poison is dangerous,' he thought.

The snake already closed its distance with Alex and he imbued his sword with Mana and slashed it to the snake's head.

'This snake's skin is really hard.'

The snake moved its tail to blow Alex away. He called a shield and parried it. Mana was sure useful, even the sturdiness of a normal shield would level up many times when coated with Mana.

Alex made a small fireball and pinched it, he was aiming at the snake's eyes and released it. The ball was released at a high speed.

'Fire Snipe'

This was the typical move Alex would use, like when he was in the fight with Joshua or when saving Alicia from Garu.

The snake moved its head away, but the ball still managed to land on its body. The ball then exploded but it only left a little burn mark on the snake's body. With this, Alex realized that was not the usual snake's skin. Alex observed more and figured that this snake's body was covered with something like a scale.

'Sshhaa,' the snake was angered. It spitted another poison and Alex pulled out his shield and threw it to the poison. He didn't dare to use a shield in his hand to block the poison. He was scared if the poison managed to pierce through his shield. If that happened, his hand would be the first target.

The shield was immediately melted when it got in touch with the poison. Luckily, there was no poison getting through. The shield managed to completely block the poison.

He moved at the snake's back and its tail moved again to him. He parried this snake's tail and spun on the air toward the snake's back.

'Sword Intent'

He slashed the snake's body. He managed to wound the snake, but it was too shallow to even give such an effect. The tail was already on its way toward Alex and he dodged it completely. Surprisingly, the snake's tail landed on the wound Alex created earlier.

'Ssshhhhaaaa!' the snake screamed in pain.

Alex's eyes brightened, he created another Sword Wave toward the wound. The Sword Wave exploded when it reached the wound.

'Ssshhhhaaaa!' the snake screamed in pain again. Alex looked at the wound and he realized that even though the snake's scale was hard if he managed to pierce through it, the rest would be easy to cut.

He wanted to aim at the wound again, but suddenly he was blown away with the snake's head. He crashed into a nearby wall. The snake didn't waste its chance and spitted the poison on him. He immediately threw another shield to it. The tail quickly moved toward him behind the poison.

'Not good,' he was surprised with the snake's tail. He used the Sword Intent to block the tail. Both of them were equal in power. When he felt he almost cut the tail, the snake's head charged at him and blew him away.

Alex immediately stabilized his body in the air and sent a flame Sword Wave to the snake. This time, the Sword Wave managed to reach its tail. This Sword Wave was able to injure the snake and gave it a small wound on the snake's tail.

Now Alex could rest a bit, if the snake wanted to use its tail to attack him, he could just target the wound on it.

When Alex almost crashed to the wall, he already stabilized his position. He used the wall to give him momentum. He stepped on the wall and jumped toward the snake. But he wasn't aiming at its tail but to another wound on the snake's back.

The snake noticed his movement, it immediately moved its head toward the wound to guard it. Alex then infused his Mana to his fist and made flame cover his whole fist. He punched the snake's head.

'Boom'

When the punch landed on the snake's head, it exploded and gave a shocking wave to both the snake and Alex. The head was blown away because of this explosion, this gave Alex time to strike the wound once again. He slashed the wound once more with his sword.

'Sshhhaa!' the snake screamed in pain, just as Alex wanted to throw another strike, the tail already blocked its way. But this move was foolish since Alex could strike at the tail's wound if he couldn't strike the back's wound.

Alex used this chance to slash at the tail's wound with Sword Intent. The wound became deeper and the attack had split the snake's tail into two with one meter deep.

'Sshhhaa!' the head was spitting another poison. Alex just easily blocked it by throwing a shield. He continued to strike at the wound.

He threw another fist with fire.

'Absolute Blast'

Another explosion blowing away the tail. He moved toward the wound on its back and he threw another fist. This time, the fist pierced the inside of the snake's stomach and it exploded inside.

The head already moved toward him again and blew him away. But to Alex, this snake was doing its last struggle. Alex made a few arrows shaped like a flame. He was inspired by Alicia when she made many ice spears in the fight with Garu Tekuis. With that picture in mind, Alex then made the flame arrow by targeting the back's wound.

'Boom, boom, boom!'

A series of explosions came out. After each arrow exploded, Alex then made another flame arrow and sent it to the same spot.

The snake used all its body to protect its wound but it couldn't do much because its organ was already burned out from Alex's Absolute Blast attack previously. The snake almost didn't have enough energy to deal with these arrows that were coming like a machine gun.

After a few ten arrows exploded, the snake died. The snake's body only had two visible wounds, but if this snake was cut open and its inside was exposed then it could be seen that all the inside was already burned by Alex's attack.

Soon enough, the body started to disappear. Only a head size red-colored monster core was left. The energy contained was higher than the rank 4 monster core. As expected from the rank 5 monster, Alex thought.

"Using these many arrows takes too much Mana from my body," he leaned to the wall. He was exhausted because using that arrow continuously, made him feel like his Mana was being sucked out from his body.

After this fight, Alex realized that he didn't have much skill in his persona. Even when he could use magic and manipulate it with his mind, it took too much time and it had such high probabilities of failure.

He programmed two skills in this fight which were Absolute Blast and Fire Arrow. Besides this, he only used his Fire Snipe, Flame Sword Wave, and Sword Intent. He needed to master a few skills, so he could make a variation combination of attacks. In the academy, he always fought with a person below his power so he didn't notice this. But after defeating the snake, he found out that this could be a bigger problem in the future.

"System, use 50 tickets in Tool Gacha. I use too many weapons and shields in this fight."

"System, I can understand if you give this iron toothpick. I have got it from you back then and quarreled about it with you too. But, what's with the special toothpick now?" Alex was angry.

[There is something special in that toothpick Host, that's why it is called Special Toothpick]

"And what's its specialty?" he tried to contain his anger. There might be something really special with this toothpick after all.

[This toothpick...Can easily remove the stain between your teeth like a magnet]

"And why on earth do you think I need that!" Alex snapped. If there was still the snake's body here, Alex would vent his anger by destroying its body until it went beyond recognition. Alex was just so furious over what the System gave him.

[System can't decide what to give, Host. System can only give you a random item from gacha]

Alex continued to blame his System, while the System innocently defended itself for a while. Knowing he couldn't do anything, he just sighed and gave in.

Alex then decided not to go to the fiftieth floor where so many ranks 5 monsters reside there. He kept killing on the 49th floor and watching the boss on the 50th floor to respawn. This week he managed to kill fourteen of rank 5 monsters, all of them were the boss monsters on the 50th floor. The monster respawned twice a day.

The boss monster changed every respawn, starting from the snake, bear even a tree summoned as the boss monster. But he realized something, this week no hunters were passing this floor from the upper floor. He first thought it was because of the scarcity of gold rank or above hunters. That was why there was no one passing here.

Of course, he didn't mind though. Since there was no one bothering his killing spree. When Alex was in the dungeon, he was like a killing machine. Besides killing monsters, he made a few programmed techniques. He made 3 techniques which were Boost Step, Flame Armor, and Fire Claw.

Boost Step was a technique to make a small explosion below his speed, so when he jumped, this technique could give him a boost for his speed. Flame Armor was like its name implied, it was a fire to make an armor shaped like chain mail or shield. As for Fire Claw, it had just literally what the name said. He was never good with naming anyway, so he just gave the techniques these plain functional names.

Fortunately, he was also a cultivator. If not, he couldn't make or manipulate his flame this easily and make a technique for it. Now, he didn't become a mainstream mage. His techniques were specially made by himself to give him a boost in his fighting.

"System, how many gacha tickets do I've got so far?"

"461 tickets before System upgrade huh? I can only upgrade it for the next event in the academy since the event will be held here. I will just practice alchemy for 4 months in the academy then. I almost forgot to ask the Teacher to teach me about forging. Alright, let's just do that, it's already time to head back."

He went back to the surface, but when he passed the 40th floor. This damned turtle was still here. That meant, no one had killed it. He was slightly surprised by this.

"You damned turtle, we finally meet again."

"ROAR!"

'Flame Sword Wave'

Seeing this same technique, the turtle only came into its shell. But with this move, Alex had already come up with a plan. He made a few fire arrows and sent them toward the hole.

The fire arrow flew to six holes. One for the head, four for its leg, and the last to its tail. After finishing targeting, these arrows then exploded.

"ROAR!"

The turtle screamed in pain and it immediately became a ball-like shape and rolled toward Alex. Last time Alex couldn't do anything when the turtle was in this form.

But now Alex only smirked a little. He made a position like he wanted to receive a ball in a volleyball play. He coated the fist using Absolute Blast and when the turtle reached him, Alex was pushed back.

"It's really strong," Alex said.

He instantly used a boost step on his feet and the back of his body to push back the momentum. Now, he was using it again below his hand.

An explosion came out from below his hand, this explosion managed to make the turtle pull up a bit. Alex didn't let go of this chance, he blew up his Absolute Blast right away.

'BOOM!'

Because of the explosion, the turtle blew to the top. Alex thought he had succeeded in his plan, but he suddenly paled. He looked at the turtle that was going to fall.

'Oh sh*t,' he thought. He quickly ran from that spot. He recalled when he used a shield like this, he acted like this too.

The turtle landed down and made a little quake on the floor. But Alex made another fire arrow right away before the turtle came out. It exploded instantly.

"ROAR!"

The turtle roared in pain. Sadly, this turtle simply had too much energy.
