Chapter 584: To Conceive and Give Birth to a Child As Soon As Possible

“I know right? Thank God for Young Zui’s help this time. Mian Mian, why hasn’t Tang Zui come to visit these few days? When your father is discharged from the hospital. We have to thank him properly.” Mrs. Gu looked towards her daughter.

“Ah? Um… he… he’s probably busy with work.”

Ever since Tang Zui fought with his father that day and left the apartment, Gu Mian had not seen him.

The moment she finished speaking, someone opened the ward door. Tang Zui, who had not appeared for a few days, came in.

Gu Mian’s hand trembledwhen she saw him. She almost cut her hand with the fruit knife.

Seeing Tang Zui, Mr. Gu and Mrs. Gu greeted him in a friendly manner. Tang Zui asked Mr. Gu about his recovery and took a seat.

Mrs. Gu looked at her daughter, who was keeping her head down and sitting still in a daze. She had already sensed that the relationship between her daughter and Tang Zui appeared slightly strange.

“Mian Mian, go pour Young Zui a glass of water.” Mrs. Gu immediately gestured at her daughter with her eyes.

Gu Mian put down the apple that she had almost finished peeling. She got up to pour Tang Zui a glass of water. She placed the glass in front of him and said, “Here’s some water.”

Tang Zui glanced at her. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” Gu Mian smiled a half-smile, straightened up and went back to peel the apple.

The interaction between them was very formal.

After Qiao Mu finished checking on Mr. Gu, he spoke to Tang Zui for a moment and left.

Mrs. Gu sensed that the air between her daughter and Tang Zui was withdrawn and distant. She was quite anxious, because she genuinely liked Tang Zui as her son-in-law.

“You two have been married for a long while. Haven’t you gotten pregnant?”

Hearing what Mrs. Gu said, Gu Mian immediately choked on her own saliva. She could not help but start coughing. Her small face turned completely red. “Mother, what are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about you getting pregnant! There’s no need to be shy. You two are married. You’ll have children sooner or later. Or are you planning to start conceiving much later?” Mrs. Gu kept asking.

Gu Mian’s expression had already become uneasy. She thought of her miscarried child and felt as if needles were stabbing her in the heart.

“We’re not using birth control,” Tang Zui replied.

“Good. To be honest, it’s better for couples to have children sooner. Having a child will strengthen your relationship. You two should put in some effort to conceive and give birth to a child as soon as possible.”

Mrs. Gu thought that if the two of them had a child, their relationship would improve greatly. She could tell that Tang Zui liked her daughter. Her daughter’s attitude towards Tang Zui, on the other hand, seemed slightly odd.

She seemed fearful of him and was generally uneasy around him.

As Mrs. Gu was saying that, Tang Zui kept staring Gu Mian. He was also thinking of their miscarried child. He felt as though a sharp blade had pierced his heart.

Gu Mian raised her head and looked at her mother, then she shifted her gaze to Tang Zui. Tang Zui had already averted his eyes. He was now staring at Mrs. Gu with a smile. “Mother, you’re too kind. It was my responsibility to help out.”

Hearing what Tang Zui said, Mrs Gu and Mr. Gu were even more pleased. “Mian Mian, listen to us. You should know what to do.”

There was an expectant look in Mr. Gu’s eyes as he gazed at his daughter. Gu Mian could only stand up and said, “Let’s go out for a meal then.”

Tang Zui finally looked towards her. He stood up and said, “Father, mother, Mian Mian and I will head home for now. We’ll come to visit another day.”

“You must be busy with your work. Don’t worry about me. I’ve already recovered,” Mr. Gu said in an amiable tone.

“Mian Mian, you don’t have to come to the hospital these days. I’m feeling better now. I can take care of your father. You should keep Tang Zui company. It would be great if you can get pregnant soon.”

Gu Mian did not reply.

“Mother, I’ll try my best.”

As Tang Zui spoke, he grabbed Gu Mian by the hand and brought her out of the ward.
