Chapter 37: Grand Fireworks of War (1)

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Kyle ran at full speed with a person tied to his back. He weaved his way through the various military vehicles parked in the area, and sprinted towards the iron mesh at the edge of the base.

“Follow him! Don’t let him run away!”

More than twenty German soldiers pursued him with guns. All their bullets landed on the vehicles that blocked their way.

Kyle’s body became tall and strong after collecting the physical skill cards. And the girl? The girl’s body was very small, so carrying her was similar to carrying a child’s backpack. It did not affect his movements at all.

Right after avoiding a wave of bullets, Kyle squatted behind a field car. The girl on his back mumbled an ‘urgh’ sound as she woke up from her light coma.

“What’s the matter?” When the girl opened her eyes, she noticed something was amiss. She was still bound by the rope like before, but this time she was tied to the back of a strong man.

With her legs and hands dangling as her chest was pressed close against his back, she was ashamed as she looked like an octopus stuck to his back..

“You finally woke up,” Kyle responded while panting, sweat rolling down his body due to his previous tense battle. His combat suit was already wet with sweat, so the two of them could almost feel each other’s body heat.

“What are we doing now?” Recognizing Kyle, she asked weakly.

“Running for our lives,” As Kyle spoke, he felt a sting on his left shoulder. He touched his shoulder and hot, damp, sticky liquid spilled from the wound and dyed his palms red.

“You’re injured!” The girl said in surprise,

“It’s just a small wound,” Kyle responded in a low voice.

A bullet must have hit him when he rushed out of the back of the car just now. Because he was in a state of excitement due to adrenaline, he did not notice it.

“What should I do?” The girl’s voice trembled. She could only reach out and press on Kyle’s injured left shoulder to prevent the blood from draining out.

“Rest assured, my body is not yet…”

Before Kyle could finish his sentence, he subconsciously leapt back into an empty area. The very next moment, the spot where he stood before was blackened by a grenade, and half of the field car was blown to bits.

“It seems that they are a little angry. They want to kill us, even at the expense of destroying the base’s military vehicles.”

“What should we do?” The girl’s face paled as she realized the danger of their situation.

“Don’t worry. I’ll get you out. I’m not going to break my promise.” Kyle looked back and estimated his distance from Warehouse 2. Several bullets whizzed past his head.

Kyle suddenly laughed. “We should be far enough from the center of the base.”

“We’re stuck in such a situation and you’re still laughing?!” The girl bit her lip as she mourned her situation and pressed her delicate hands on Kyle’s left shoulder. Nevertheless, blood continued to spill through her fingers.

“Have you ever seen fireworks?” Kell asked in a mysterious manner.

“Huh?” The girl’s face was full of doubts. She stared as Kyle groped his pocket with his right hand and grabbed a remote control-like object in his hand.

“That’s the big fireworks that are used in wars.” When Kyle was done speaking, he pressed the remote control button in his hand.
