I Am In Marvel
Chapter 40: End of Campaign (2)

“It’s you.” Kyle was stunned when he heard the familiar voice. He recognized that voice. It was the voice of the girl he failed to rescue from the German base.

That time, it was too dark to see her face. On top of that, the girl’s face was extremely pale, and her body was miserably tied up. It was like she was a completely different person now.

After notifying the doctor, the girl quickly returned to the ward and snatched the apple from Kyle’s hands. “Oh, you can’t eat apples just like that! You need to peel them.”

“Why are you here…” However, as he started talking, he realized the nature of his question and promptly corrected himself, “Well, where am I?”

“We’re at the First Military Hospital in New York, United States. You were treated at a temporary base on the frontlines at first. Once the situation was stable, you were moved here for rehabilitation.

“So it seems.” Kyle nodded, absorbed in his thoughts.

“You have no idea! The bullet didn’t just hit your left shoulder. It was less than a few centimeters away from your heart. I was so scared when I was rescued. Fortunately, your physique is very strong,” The girl said as she approached Kyle and reached for the white bandage wrapped around him.

“What are you doing?” Kyle looked at her in surprise. He caught a whiff of her blond hair because of the small gap between them.

“I’ll change your bandages. My parents were a doctor and a nurse, so I’m good at little things like this.” The girl couldn’t hide the sorrow in her eyes while talking about her parents.

Kyle naturally understood her situation. She was a prisoner, so her friends and family must have been shot dead by the Germans invading her country.

Feeling the atmosphere freeze, Kyle forcefully found something to talk about. “That, that, I never thought… you would still take care of someone.”

“Of course. You have to understand the things you got from the enemy base by risking your life aren’t just some goods.”

The girl stuck out her tender tongue. And as if she had remembered being tied to Kyle’s back that night, a faint blush appeared on her face. “And I have a name. Lucille Jane, you can call me Lucy.”

“I see.” Kyle smiled and allowed Lucy to gently and skillfully change the bandage.

Soon, the doctor in charge hurried to the ward to check on Kyle’s injuries.

“Doctor, how is he?” Lucy asked nervously.

“He’s fine.” The doctor in charge smiled as he pushed his glasses up his nose. “I didn’t expect this. Ordinary people are usually bed-ridden for a month, but you recovered in just a week! Just three more days and you’ll be discharged from the hospital.”

“Three more days….” Kyle shrugged helplessly as he looked at his physique, in his opinion, it was extremely weak.

The doctor checked up on the injury and after making sure it was fine, said, “That’s right! An officer had told me to inform him if you woke up. I just called him. He’ll be here to visit soon.”

An officer? Are they visiting me?

Kyle scratched his head, thinking about who it could be. It wasn’t that hard to guess; he just knew around ten officers and only had a good relationship with one or two of them.

After a while.

The officer knocked on the door and walked straight into the ward. Kyle knew about his visit but pretended to be surprised and asked, “What are you doing here, Sir?”

Yes, the officer who came down to visit him was the combat instructor at the training base from whom Kyle had drawn several green skill cards.

“Son of a b*tch, why can’t I come?!”

Joseph Kingsley smiled as he scolded him without putting on any airs, but when he saw Lucy inside the ward, he coughed and solemnly straightened up. “Oh, is your family visiting you?”

Lucy, who was still peeling the apple, bowed her head shyly and did not refute the statement.
