Sixty Years ago, one middle aged man brought a Qilin that looked like a pug and a mandarin duck that looked exactly like a duck, walking into the Imperial City of the Central Plains for the first time.

That year, this middle aged man crossed the Mountains and Seas Ridge, passed through the Four Seasons Plain and walked into Qingluan Academy.

Sixty Years later, Lin Xi sat on an old carriage, starting from Deerwood Village, he passed half the Yun Qin Empire and went straight north, going to Qingluan Academy…

Pretty confusing at first, author did not state MC power directly but foreshadow it. Overall, easy to read, easy to understand, good world building, simple power system, lovable MC, good side characters, good antagonists, slow to super slow (focus on world building), a good ending (author decided to stop the story at the perfect time, not too soon and not too late), My honest feeling: Definitely a chinese novel, but not exactly a chinese novel, it is just unique My honest feeling2: If you are not a fan of super slow story, do not ever think about reading this sh*t, it will burn you brain low and slow

This novel is extremely underrated. The world building and power system is simple but well thought out and puts a slight twist on the murim cultivation story trope. The MC is both smart and likeable and the side characters are extremely well written. It's great seeing how they interact with each other. The action can't be described as anything less than epic and it really feels like you're reading a legend in the making. Definitely in my top 10.

This is one of the 10~ first novels I have read and I loved it at the time. Even now after about 3-4 years and about 100 more read novels, some more popular like: The second coming of Gluttony, The Perfect Run, Reverend Insanity, The Lord of Mysteries, Martial World, Desolate Era, Mother of Learning, Omniscient Reader Viewpoint, Solo Leveling, A Will Eternal, Release That Witch, The World Online, etc... In short, most of all the popular finished novels that can be read on this type of website. But this novel is still in my top 5 favorites. But seeing this where it seems that this novel is not very popular and with such a mediocre grade I cannot understand the reason. It is true that I read this novel a long time ago and perhaps it is simply that I remember it with a certain nostalgia. I will read it again soon to see if after having read so many novels my opinion changes or not. But I still think this novel is a hidden gem, I don't know :/... Give this novel a chance <3

Have you read anything else similar to this or on the same level of quality?

Well, it's been several years since I read this novel. I barely remember some details and important characters and that I liked the story. But I don't remember the quality of the writing very well. Maybe it occurs to me 'Mother of Learning'. The story revolves around the MC being reborn in a world with magic and being trapped in a time loop repeating the days non-stop, it also has schools, and cool characters. But as I said, I don't remember this novel very good so I can't make a good recommendation. Maybe if you give me some details of what you are looking for, I can recommend something similar that I have read with them.

Understandable. No worries if you can't remember anything, it's just because you recommended this novel, you seem to have an eye for quality. The categories I'm thinking of are pretty generic, tbh. Basically: isekai, ancient world but not medieval fantasy. Some sort of time ability would be cool, but those are in short supply. Reverend Insanity is pretty good. I've tried out the Perfect Run, but I'm not into it. What really interests me is just if you've seen anything with the same level of writing as this novel. Mother of Learning was one of my first ever light novels, and it's fantastic. I'll give you some recommendations, too. Check out Chronicles of Primordial Wars, and Beware of Chicken, if you haven't read them already.

I have read both as well. Maybe you didn't read World Online or Release that Witch. Similar to COPW in the sense of civilization development. TWO is more ancient China era with VRMMO game system, and a lot of historical data that, if you are interested in those things, you will surely like it. RTW has a system where the MC mixes knowledge of our time with the powers of witches (women with magical powers) in a medieval era world. And introduce firearms, electricity, airplanes. In my opinion it is better than COPW. Kidnapped Dragon or The Novel Extra are also good, they have plot twists about the MC that make you see the story in a different way from those moments. But a novel that makes me as nostalgic as this one despite being the first one I read is Second Coming of Gluttony. I remember it had a good story and the MC and supporting characters are all very good too. It's a harem, but only at the end or even the side stories. It has little importance in the main story.

I'll put The World Online in my reading list, I've actually read the first 6 chapters. The rest that you've recommended, I've already read them, they certainly are gems (well the Novel's Extra was for the first 150 chapters or so lol). Tyvm, The World Online will be my next read.

I can't guarantee giving a top 5 since I read each novel in a different mood and moment. But I'll try, I just hope you don't blame me if you don't like them. I will give you novels of quite different styles so that you can choose your fav. The Perfect Run - I read this one recently and I liked it, the protagonist is crazy in the head and that's what makes it great. The Second Coming of Gluttony - This is one of the first ones I read and maybe that influences my opinion but I think the world and the story are very good. Romance is harem, but it is not the main point of the story, it is your choice. A Stay-at-home Dad’s Restaurant In An Alternate World - I especially like this because the Slice of Life, the MC's relationship with his daughter is beautiful. It heals your heart. The end is meh. It says it's a harem, but it's not. Although he is surrounded by women but only the wife has a special relationship. As I said before, this one too. I'm out of space, ask me if you want more.

You should definitely read this novel more than 9 chapters. This novel can should be considered faster among similar novel styles where cultivation is not about destroying planets with single slash. Main mc progresses through cultivation faster than anyone else but this novel is not where he saves everyone and everyone else is trash among trash. Other characters have their own stories and power they can fight withouth mc help. World is amazing we know only small amount of land and beyond those lands is bigger mysteries. OF course some say that love was from first sight but it isn't better that way?. Like among novels they love female mc out of nowhere withouth any reason so this novel atleast justifies and their budding romance interactions through novel can be sweet to read. This novel heavily focuses on politics but with fights also.

9 chapter in and I feel like this novel is one of those classic face slaping trashes that are out there. There're young master that just so happen to bumb into MC and act all arrogant then there also ice cold type beauties in there. 9 chapters I'm we making bets and whatnot what a trash way to present conflict. Also so many info dumps that are no way interesting considering current situation MC in right now. Also what's up with the bs love at first sight completly out of nowhere really bad writing Well overall novel seem to be boring and generic.

Youre making a review and judging the whole book despite reading only 9 chapters? Then i guess u haven't read masterpieces like LOTM before that took atleast 100+ chaps to get exciting. With all due my respect please dont make a review anymore 🤞

Yes only 9 chapters and it's already a dumpster fire, you know first impression is pretty important considering amount of novels that's out there I say giving a new novel more than 10 chapters is enough.

Ok, this left me impressed since ch0. I've read some reviews about it saying it actually reads like a novel, not some amateur-ish wish fulfilment "log" like some others, more popular than they should, web novels out there, and they got that right more than I expected. If the story in it is at least half as good as the way it is written, it's gonna be a real journey reading(binging) it.

I'm surprised there are barely any comments. Though the story isn't incredibly amazing, it is a cultivation novel that sort of twists the common tropes. Also, the MC has a unique ability to turn back time by 10 minutes each day(this is revealed about 5 or so chapters in so I won't count it as a spoiler). As of the start of volume 5, most of the story takes place inside this cultivation academy. But it's not the normal cultivation academy/sect where the MC is taught one thing and then the teachers are practically nonexistent until the MC offends enough people to be kicked out. He actually constantly spends time with the teachers and learns from them on multiple occasions which is a plus since I really like novels where the MC is in a school and learning from other people instead of the MC constantly getting lucky and blindly rushing through his cultivation and combat techniques and yet getting all the best techniques and materials to cultivate.
