Earth, thousands of years after the apocalypse.
Countless technologies and advances had been lost to time as the Specters, horrifying beings with terrifying powers, arrived and destroyed the world.
Over the coming thousands of years, humanity had built itself up but always died again.
Nobody remembers the past.
Nobody remembers what humanity had once accomplished.
Now, everyone is living in a world where the Specters reign supreme.
-----
A boy with amnesia woke up in the middle of the Dregs, the worst part of Crimson Fungus City.
The boy grows up and manages to become strong enough to pass an exam for one of the most prestigious jobs in existence, a Zephyx Extractor, someone that can harvest the powers of Specters.
Sadly, he had already gained a power from a Specter in the past, which made him ineligible for the position.
But then, a mysterious man visits him.
And his luck finally turns around.

Comments on the novel chapters for the last week.
Very good novel, translation is a little bit rough at the start but gets better. Among its strong points i find the originality to be great and the protagonist kind of thinks and behaves like an actual human being, which if you think about it is kinda rare.
probably one of the best novels this website has
we really got spoiled by the daily chapters
The setting is something i've never seen before in a light novel, which is already enough of a reason for myself to read it; even more than that, what really got me hooked was the implications of the story's progression being thrown at the reader immediately, leaving me in anticipation for how the story will even get to that point. As the author of Sword God, Im expecting some crazy stuff to unfold and waiting for it with curled toes. You should too.
Having an empty life makes the wait for chapters just that much more agonising. ` I need more Nick, I need more Wack-A-Mole motivational training montages. I need more.
Is there chronicle order to this novel work? Does LITOW or SGIAWOM have the same world?
One of the reasons why I don't read Warmaisach's works is because of its writing style. I have this irrational hate, a pet peeve, towards "1-sentence paragraphs". Maybe it looks good at mobile. but a tablet-user such as myself who reads in landscape, it just hurt my eyes and gives me headache.
All of the author's 3 novels are in the top 50 amazing consistency
I finally completed LITOW after SGIAWM which I absolutely loved, now is the time to start this one. I hope it's good as the other 2.
I read in the chapter comments that SGWOM world, this book and the other book is connected. Are the worlds connected or something?
