Mage Adam
Chapter 82

"What are we going to do now?" William shouted, glancing at Adam.

The skeleton seemed to stretch in the air, crouching on the ground.

Its limbs were covered with knife-like barbs -- Adam and his team were floating above ground at a height of nearly 20 metres and it was exactly the same height as the giant's head. They could see the garments and the skeleton of the priestess suspended within the skull; the crystal skeleton cradled in her arms.

"It's all because of you that I've become like this; it's because of you that the gods can't come into this world; and it's all because of you that my daughter can't be resurrected!"

With a swipe of her bony hand, the giant skeleton swiped its right arm, sweeping towards the four of them.

Adam was astonished at the size of the skeleton -- the only thing larger than this skeleton was Dean Victor's true form.

William, Ophelia, and Crystal evaded the attack easily.

"We have to think of a way to take it down! Adam? Adam?!"

Adam didn't evade the attack, however. He conjured multiple psychic barriers, aiming to gauge how powerful the skeleton was. He gripped at the teleportation scroll in his hand as a last resort.

"What are you doing? Adam! Move!" Ophelia screamed.

The giant skeleton's arms easily swept past Adam, but only because the bones shattered upon hitting the barrier.

Adam now knew that the giant skeleton was made out of countless, tinier skeletons. Although new bones were constantly filling the crack, it doesn't change the fact that it was powered by human skeletons, so it cannot bear or exert a strong force.

Adam stopped flying, dodging the second sweep of the skeleton narrowly. However, a strong wind blew Adam away.

"Blasphemers, all of you!" the priestess roared, controlling the skeleton to rush towards all of them with a momentum shaking the earth and the mountains.

The trees and small hills beneath the skeleton were levelled and destroyed. Although it couldn't fly, it could travel a few hundred metres in a single step.

While evading the skeleton's hits, the three heard Adam shouting, "The skeleton is strong and it has strong regenerative capabilities! However, the body is fragile!"

Crystal immediately controlled the wind, turning the four towards another direction to narrowly avoid the skeleton's sweeping arms.

"This form isn't endless -- powers derived from sacrifices require constant sacrifice. We just need to wear it out!"

"Damn all of you!" the priestess bellowed and two thick energy beams shot out of the skeleton, aimed at Adam.

"Watch out!" Crystal exclaimed.

Adam darted upwards, dodging the beams narrowly.

Adam whirled in the air, flying irregularly, "Wear it out, and find an opportunity to attack the priestess!"

The three nodded and dispersed. They had their own roles to play here.

Most of the attacks were aimed at Adam -- Ophelia lacked any means of a long-range attack, and took this opportunity to leap towards the skeleton.

However, she didn't expect the skeleton to be agile. The moment she was in the air, the skeleton hit Ophelia with a single punch.

Within a second, Ophelia shot out like a bullet out of a gun, ploughing a trench several hundred metres long on the ground and uprooting a dozen trees. Blood pooled in her mouth.

The skeleton wanted to step forward and crush Ophelia, but was distracted by Crystal and William's constant bombardments.

Ophelia sat up on the ground, coughing up blood constantly. Her eyes stared at the battlefield, and she glanced at Adam, zipping around the skeleton and casting electricity and lightning bolts upon the skeleton.

"No... I can't become a burden," she muttered to herself, producing a sealed box from her inventory. After opening it with difficulty, she took out a syringe containing an unknown liquid.

Over the past few years, Ophelia felt tortured. The most dazzling Valkyrie of the North thought she would continue to be a shining beacon after landing in the Mage Continent, but she was overtaken time and time again. This caused her to fall into a period of depression and self-doubt.

"I can't rely on you -- I can't be weaker than you!" Ophelia shouted, injecting the syringe into her neck and pushed all the liquid into her body.

In an instant, Ophelia's body ignited with a blazing magical flame -- her injuries healed completely in an instant, and she could feel herself getting stronger and stronger. She conjured a giant sword and bent her knees, shooting across the sky like a meteor and slashing the skeleton with unparalleled kinetic energy.
