I get the feeling it's less a personality problem and more that novel is trying to be light-hearted—coming up with a ton of unique spells, especially ones that will be used is counter productive in respect to the efficiency needed to be a WN author.

Also I'm starting to suspect that there's a limit to the amount of spells he can learn, depending on his stats. This is entirely speculation though, but I believe he couldn't learn a6th rank spell when he tried, so there are some rules there probably

It says harem, but it's barely harem like so far. While there are 4 potential romantic interests so far, he has very little interaction with 2 of them, and the other 2 have reasons why they aren't interested or couldn't be together as of now. That being said it's still very early in the story
