Gao Peng’s first reaction was to assume that the turtle had come to him since it was attracted by his own excellence.

Xu Qingzhi sighed deeply. Then she turned around as her eyes fell upon the potted cactus sitting innocently on the office desk.

The spirit turtle climbed onto the embankment when it reached the shore. As the turtle surfaced from the water, its shell was exposed to the air, and not a single drop of water was on it. The shell was smooth and gleaming under the sun. It looked like a piece of transparent crystal, magnificently beautiful.

As the Mystical Mirror Diviner Turtle approached, the moisture in the air seemed to increase. A pair of pure blue eyes stared motionlessly at Gao Peng.

Buzzzz… A low vibration sound could be heard. It was made through a special vibration technique from the mouth and sounded like the whistle of a train.

The spirit turtle and Gao Peng looked at one another before the creature retreated into its shell, leaving a gaping dark hole.

After a couple of seconds, the turtle extended its neck from the shell holding a crystal clear piece of jade in its mouth.

The Mystical Mirror Diviner Turtle placed the jade in front of Gao Peng, then turned around and dove into the lake, then slowly drifted away.

“Wow, the spirit turtle has granted you a spiritual blessing,” said the tour guide, astonished.

“You’re incredibly lucky. I’ve been working here for a few years now, and I’ve only heard of that spirit turtle blessing others with gifts once,” continued the tour guide as he stared at Gao Peng in admiration.

“Really? Who was it?” asked Gao Peng. He had decided to ask the tour guide because he was still in a daze and didn’t understand why the spirit turtle had left so suddenly.

“A long time ago, there was a girl whose father had blood cancer and needed money for treatment. Therefore, she would often work at the lotus root farm to pay off her father’s medical bills. Later on, the spirit turtle gave her a precious gemstone, and she sold it for about a million.”

“What happened next? Was her father cured of his sickness?” Gao Peng asked. He thought that it was a very touching story. The girl, the spirit turtle, the gift, and treating diseases seemed to foreshadow a happy ending, so it sparked Gao Peng’s curiosity to find out the ending of the story.

The tour guide merely shrugged his shoulders and said, “Well, she ran off with the money and went to another city. Her father passed away after three months in the house. His body was discovered by the neighbors after several days due to the stench of the corpse.”

“Then why did the spirit turtle decide to gift her the stone? It brought harm to her instead.” Gao Peng furrowed his eyebrows as he started to get lost in thought. The gemstone had been a high-end material that was very costly. It could have valued from hundreds of thousands to billions or more depending on the amount.

“Maybe the spirit turtle cannot sense the intentions of humans,” said the tour guide as he chuckled.

Greed and wealth could affect the human heart into committing unimaginable things.

As Gao Peng picked up the white jade the turtle had gifted him, it felt smooth and delicate to the touch. A slight warmth still lingered on the jade.

Name of material: Ambergris Jade

Function: A material made out of the condensation of various dragon species. It can store the dragons’ languages and information about them.

Why did you give me this jade? Gao Peng thought.

He lowered his head to study the palm-sized piece of jade as he sunk deep in his own thoughts. He had initially thought that the spirit turtle had sensed his extraordinariness, hence it wanted to form a connection with him. Unfortunately, it had merely given him a piece of jade and left.

Gao Peng was speechless.

Gao Peng suddenly thought of the White Dragon and the Silver Dragon Prince from Taihu Lake. Had the big turtle been sent by the Silver Dragon Prince?

Gao Peng stayed by Taihu Lake for some time. During his stay, the Mystical Mirror Diviner Turtle would visit the lake on a daily basis. He would always gift Gao Peng treasures and even the corpses of rare monsters on certain occasions.

The Mystical Mirror Diviner Turtle stared at Gao Peng for a few seconds, then it shook its head, eyes crinkling into twin lines before it turned to leave.

Gao Peng had regrets that he couldn’t own the Mystical Mirror Diviner Turtle. The creature had a high level, so even if he decided to keep it as a pet by force, it was possible he wouldn’t succeed. It wouldn’t be as easy as the Treasure Sniffing Rodent.

Gao Peng took a plane back to Yuzhou after staying in the base city of Jiangnan for three days.

The atmosphere seemed very tense and serious when he arrived in Yuzhou. The pedestrians on the streets were walking hurriedly as if they were all rushing somewhere.

After walking past five streets, he ran into three squads of patrolling officers and two road blockades.

Back in the Southern Sky Group, the employees showed up for work as usual. Even in the park, not much nervousness or uneasiness could be felt. The employees of the Southern Sky Group seemed to be the most unflappable and carefree people in the world.

Sadly, his grandfather wasn’t present there, so he had to be somewhere else.

The only thing that made Gao Peng slightly less worried was the fact that the White Dragon was still within Southern Sky territory. That proved that the situation wasn’t out of hand, hence it was probably not too serious. Otherwise, the White Dragon wouldn’t have stayed there.

“I have something that I was asked to hand over to you,” said Gao Peng as he presented the Ambergris Jade.

The dragon seemed to have picked up the scent of the Ambergris Jade, and it reacted in a rather humane manner. Its eyes showed traces of confusion. A grunting sound echoed as Gao Peng tossed the jade towards the dragon. It caught the jade with its mouth and closed its eyes.

The White Dragon suddenly opened its eyes and let out several intelligible grunts, then it retreated into the lake and wouldn’t resurface no matter how much Gao Peng called for it.
