This is a a well made novel made for a certain demographic, if you are the type that likes world building, reading into things and trying to understand the detail behind things then you will enjoy it, if not then read something else and don't sh*t on a good novel just because it isn't your type. Overall it has a good ending that is not drawn out, but you could argue that it seemed a litte rushed. Not any plot holy that I noticed by the end of the novel, as it all got explained and a lot of things make more sense by the end as this is a type of novel that likes to hide a lot from you. And no you don't to know any of the mythologies to enjoy the novel, it help you understand things easier, but there is enough info to get the general idea

Actually remembered this after the wipe recently, I don't hate it and it's pretty good for low key mc but seems translation becomes worse overtime

I would say this novel is by far one of my most favorites. It's not lik3 other standard wuxia novels where MC is ruthless or all the girls get wet when MC touch them Expect for one girl Lan Ling there's no peanut gallery which describes every single move in battles. For some people MC might be spineless but he has his reasons. You people has to understand that MC is not competing against some random young masters or some bandits, he is competing against apex of his wolrd while being weaker than an ant so he has to be careful with every single move.

This is one of those masterpiece that you can only appreciate if you like this kind of novel beforehand. I saw many comments below: 1:) "You can only understand this novel if you know the chinese mythology" This is completely false. Even though it's true that it will be easier to understand and you will have a higher immersion knowing/researching a little of the mythology, it's not a must. You can understand the novel without knowing the mythology. 2:) "He is too steady/scheming/political" bruh, it's what the title, the tags and the synopsis said from the start. If you prefer action novels with hot-blooded MC, fights and pretty much suspension, this is not for you. The MC is obsessive with details and information, is very cautious and he's afraid of death. It's true that at the start, there was no suspense but afterwards he fails many times and is tricked. What is good is that the MC is smart and cunning so he learns something everytime he fails. 3:) "The world building is bad and filled with plot holes" I didn't remember any plot hole so far, there are some at the start but later is shown that it wasn't a plot hole. My recommendation would be: read if you like this type of novel. Don't expect a romance novel to not have a romance subplot nor expect this novel to have a hot-blooded rash and dumb Chinese MC

Not as good as the top tier providence in novel. Author can't use the heavenly court properly.
The interaction between him and the possible love interest turns out to be machination of heaven bruh. So many lame experts and many plot holes.

This is extremely interesting and very fun to read! It's constantly moving and constantly advancing without leaving many plot holes at all as well as being very well written, albeit a few small translation errors which are easy to walk over. Plot and Character wise, 9/10.
As of writing this, I'm on Chapter 469

After reading 100+ chapters and couple of reviews below i kinda agree with them with the amount info dumping. But nevertheless i can still accept it, because I've seen worse. But on thing i dislike the most about this novel is how the plot seemed to be forced. Yes i get it the characters were bound by fate and all that bs, but their interaction could be written in much smoother way imo

This novel is really really good. The thing is, people who do not know Chinese mythology will find it not so good.Yeah, blokes here saying this is wrong, that is wrong. My advice for any reading material is that read i for yourself, maybe you would have like it but you read these stupid reviews first, then got prejudiced. People want action, action all the time but cannot write shit. Those who write know what to say about things not in their sphere.Have read all types, more than anyone here.

This one can pretty simply be summarized as a political cultivation novel. It’s almost entirely plotting with a little bit of cultivation and a dash of wholesome interactions with friends and family. The other reviewer pointed out the two main flaws here: the protagonist is too smart and is ready for literally any possibility and the world setting is horribly explained. I have no idea what’s going on in the novel since I am not familiar with Chinese mythology, and the novel does not make any effort to explain really anything. I’ve heard it described as being similar to Greek mythology, where many English speaking readers are familiar with a lot of the Gods and myths, so they wouldn’t need too much explanation before getting into it. However, it doesn’t go too well for people who don’t know the mythology beforehand. It didn’t stop me from ignoring it and enjoying it chapter to chapter. I just skipped the info dumps and read for a while since it was both wholesome and a fresh take on the genre.

This story about a young disciple hiding his potential, cultivation and with many trump cards could be quite good except for some major flaws.

The keyword here is TOO steady

TOO steady meaning that the MC is always prepared no matter what happens. Why should we be worried or even care about what happens to him when we know that? It's alright in the begining but to have him always think of escape or mention his limitless trump cards is not pleasing. It is boring and sometimes even infuriating.

But this is not the major flaw of this story.

The real problem with this story that will always prevent it from being more than another novel to pass time is the worldbuilding.

I read a ton of different novels and I can say that this book has one of the worst worldbuilding ever made.

First, if you are not familiar with this kind of novel and with chinese mythologie then don't even bother reading it. You will be completely lost. The author expects you to understand and doesn't care if you didn't.

But even if you are familiar with it, like me, don't expect to understand many things when the author suddenly start talking about his world.
No real explanation clear enough to understand this world and its history. Just massive info dumping without any sense as if this kind of knowledge is common.

It's difficult to explain but to resume, it is bad and destroy many situations by making them boring (how to care when we don't even understand what is happening, who is involved and where?) or simply incomprehensible.

In conclusion, this novel is passable with some good parts but you will probably have the furious envy to skip many parts of it to escape the massive nonsense of this world poorly built to return to the more pleasant parts of this story that make it readable and not completely without interest.
