Chapter 1419: Newcomer

Little White couldn’t wait to get justice, but the pet shop was filled with people during the day. After the insect disaster, the customers would come to visit one after another. If he appeared suddenly, wouldn’t the shop assistants be surprised and wonder where this white dog came from?

In his spare time during the day, Zhang Zian ran around several times to print out the relevant materials and pictures of the Bird Safety Collar and deliver them to Grandma Gu. It wasn’t available in China, but it was urgently needed. It was possible to try to copy it. Because of what happened during the insect disaster by the street office, it became of utmost importance. They would’ve dealt with it immediately and contacted small factories nearby for trial production.

The only problem was that this type of collar is to be popularized amongst the various domestic cats. Since they weren’t stray cats, domestic cat owners were more likely to resist. For example, they would worry about if the collar would’ve been too tight after wearing it? Would the cat suffer? Would it affect the cat’s diet?

If these problems were not solved early on, it would be challenging to promote it.

Zhang Zian volunteered to dress the cats in the shop with the collar as a trial, observe the effect and give feedback to the factory.

At night, the pet shop closed. Wang Qian and Li Kun went home, while Jiang Feifei and Lu Yiyun returned to the rental house. Zhang Zian pulled down the shutter door to indicate it was the end of the day.

“Meow, meow, meow! Your majesty, forgive me for not being able to serve you tonight. Tonight, I will sleep here instead! ” Snowy Lionet lay in the empty cabinet. On top of the air conditioner, its fluffy tail comfortably drooped in front of the outlet.

She had been there since this morning, and her long fur flew all over the shop because of the air conditioning. However, she was a beautiful creature so the customers in the store didn’t complain about it.

Amongst the elves, Snowy Lionet disliked the heat the most. It is the equivalent of wearing a down jacket all year round. The hot and humid summer was unbearable for her.

“In a moment, this air conditioner will turn off to save power.” Zhang Zian said, “You can go to the second floor and blow the fan.”

“Bah, bah, bah! The fan is not cooling at all! If you dare to shut this down, I’ll fight you! That Bird Safety Collar won’t be able to protect you! ” Snowy Lionet said angrily.

Fina ignored the quarrel between them, jumped off the cat stand and went upstairs to rest. Because she grew up in the hot desert of Egypt, the heat was nothing to her. It needed dehumidification more than cooling.

However, there was at least one advantage of the hot summer. Young girls who moved in and out of the pet shop have started wearing skirts. Regardless of the length of their skirts, the wind blew them everywhere.

When there were young female guests, Fina didn’t take a nap either. She always looked at the girls’ legs and looked around. If Zhang Zian was caught doing this, he would’ve been regarded as a pedophile.

So when evening arrived, Fina felt sleepy faster than usual and went upstairs about an hour earlier than before.

“Wait! Fina, are you going upstairs now? Could you call π down? A new friend is staying in the shop tonight,” He called out to Fina.

“Correction, not a friend.” Vladimir added, “of course, if it voluntarily went to Siberia for ideological transformation then you can be considered a friend.”

Fina said angrily, “Who do you think you are? Why should I be running errands for you?”

“Chop it off! Chop it off! But before that, I’ll take a bath. I smell awful. I don’t want my claws to be dirty! ” Snowy Lionet spirit suddenly came back.

Zhang Zian felt helpless. ‘I merely asked you to call π down. Do you need to go on like this?’ he thought.

But forget it. Little White had already met the elves in the pet shop when he came last time, so asking π to come down specifically to meet him was not necessary. Besides, he and Shihua didn’t think π and Little White spoke any common language.

He pointed at his cell phone at the open space in the store. He found Little White in the virtual pet bar and clicked “release”.

Little White appeared in the store. The layout of his surroundings was different, but there was a cool and dry atmosphere in comparison to the hot and humid outdoor air. For a moment, he couldn’t adapt to the change of environment.

There were countless strange smells in the store. Little White remained alert and looked around. Last time it jumped in through the second-floor window. This time around, he was on the first floor, so it didn’t recognize his surroundings for a while.

“Little White, this is my pet shop, and…have you met all the elves last time?” Zhang Zian introduced.

“Meow… I’m Xinghai… Do you like to play hide and seek?” Xinghai raised a paw to say hello.

Snowy Lionet covered her nose, “Meow, meow, meow! It smells awful! ”

Other elves also smelt the odor that came from Little White. However, they didn’t mention it to avoid hurting his feelings.

Little White followed the stray dogs to the landfill every day. Afterward, they needed to go to the seaside to clean themselves then dry in the sun.

Little White had known for a long time that most of the elves in this shop were cats. Although they were not the current stray cats it was accustomed to, he still felt uneasy around them.

“Don’t worry, I won’t be here for long,” Little White looked up to Zhang Zian, “Didn’t you say that it’s hard to go out once you have gotten in?”

Zhang Zian advised.”Well, it’s too late for that today. You’d better have a good rest here. Even if you want to go to the waste recycling station, you would have to wait until tomorrow… ” Zhang Zian advised.

“No, I want to go now while humans are less likely to see me at night,” Little White insisted, “Please open the door for me. I want to see if anyone is going to set off the alarm.”

For some reason, Vladimir didn’t understand what he meant but said with a smirk, “OK, but be careful, don’t bump your head!”

Since Little White insisted on it, Zhang Zian opened the door again.

It was now getting dark. Although it was almost 8 p.m., the sky in the West hadn’t completely darkened.

Before, there was a catastrophic insect disaster in the past that kept people housebound. Now at night time, the streets came to life with people going shopping, strolling in the street, running and walking at night. There were also many young couples seen running along the road. They weren’t afraid of the heat since they stayed near each other.

Of course, businesses couldn’t pass up this opportunity to make money. The aroma of all kinds of delicious food wafted through the streets. Mr. and Mrs. Li had a barbecue stand at the entrance of the snack bar where cold beer was served. Several young people enjoyed eating barbecue and drinking beer together. They also rewarded the cat in the shop with extra food.

Everyone knew that setting up a barbecue in the summer was a lucrative business. Mr. Li’s family was not the only one to set up barbecue stands. There were also fruit stalls, accessories, and clothing stores. It was quite lively, just like a small night market.
