-This novel is DARK, philosophical, epic and emotional. IF YOU ARE ARE LOOKING FOR A NOVEL WHERE MC IS INSANELY LUCKY AND WITHOUT TRYING LEVELS UP WHILE COLLECTING HAREM MEMBERS LIKE POKEMON, THIS NOVEL IS NOT FOR YOU. -This novel (PoT) belongs to the same universe as Renegade Immortal (RI), ISSTH and A Will Eternal (AWE). Based on the release time, order goes like this: RI>PoT>ISSTH>AWE. Based on the order of the timeline, it is the first and goes like this: PoT>RI>ISSTH>AWE. -The majority of people I know who have read all 4 of Er Gen's completed novels agree that ether Pursuit of the Truth is the best Er Gen's novel or ties with Renegade Immortal as the best one. -The overall consensus is that in terms of quality Er Gen's novels goes like this: Pursuit of the Truth>=Renegade Immortal>ISSTH>>>AWE. Personally, I consider this novel to be the best Chinese novel on NU. -You can pretty much ignore everyone who have read less than half of the novel opinions because they still have seen nothing. Speaking of endings, Pursuit of the Truth has the best and most fitting ending I have ever seen in Chinese novels.

1/2 Story - great but I have a lot to say. First of all - bad narration, lying narration, narration that will confuse the heavens. The cultivation in this novel is a train wreck and the bad narration further aggravates my eyes when reading this novel. These kind of lies have never appeared in er gens other novels (I’ve read them all except this one which I’m reading now). We spend 200 chapters calling Lord of World Planes ‘third step’ then completely remove third step from our vocabulary and just saying Master Of Fate Life And Death but er Gen never says it is fourth step. What actually happened is that the third step was actually peak of the second step and the so called Kalpa realm was just the heavens blights but that wasnt actually mentioned. Su Mings Life cultivation (as to where I’m at) never actually matters because of the clone (Er Gens Renegade inmortal had a much better and less confusing system on making clones) this ones just a train wreck because the powers aren’t explained good. The amount of times I’ve had to read world planes or Master of Life and death is enough to leave those words out of my vocabulary.

This novel tells about MC's determined pursuit of the truth, it is a little pessimistic, a little emotional and a little thought provoking, the ending was very good. The only bad thing about the novel is that it repeats itself sometimes, but this does not affect my overall rating of the novel. 10/10

Simply amazing and a great read. Surprised the book has ended for 10 years but still amazing. The book has aged well, i encourage others to read. Definitely a must read.

It's super good, i tell you. It potrays su ming's character and his development over the years, personally what i like the most in his personality is his will and stubborness that it reaches beyond obesession in a good way as it is the only thing that make's him go forward in his dao to see the truth. And it kinda reminds me of it. And i too want to see the truth of why we live and why does the universe exist? I just don't have the strength to do it, I am just a nobody that has no drive and will, That's why su ming is fav char because he encourages me to do anything and will continue to go on my way and my path to see The Truth.

I know understand why people say this is their favorite Er Gen novel. This novel encapsulates Su Ming’s pursuit of the truth, his Dao, and his end. Su Ming’s Dao is his determination and will to seek the truth and to keep his promises. This novel also has a very good ending. Final rating 8. 5/10. What is keeping this novel from being a 10/10 is the reoccurring ‘shocking the world’ chapters every 100 chapters and they last for at least 10 chapters. Take away all of that and you have an amazing xianxia novel, with an amazing plot, an amazing MC, and great Dao comprehension.

this is an absolutely wonderful book. i had started this a bit after i finished renegade immortal (the first book in this series) and i had seen a bunch of references to it in the book as well. i suggest you finish reading renegade immortal before you read the final chapter of this book otherwise there will be a few major spoilers. don't listen to the comments about how the books quality starts to drop after the first arc, the author just changes the pace of the book a bit. this book was worth all of the time that i spent to read it.

A great book, managed to stir my emotions here and there. I have read RI and now just finished this one, and I do truly recommend reading it. I got 500 chapters in untill I gave up, but I re-read it a year later and boy am I happy I did. I'm off to the next novel in the series as soon as I have recovered a bit from the sadness of finishing a book.

It reads more like a failed experiment of an A.I. writing a xianxia novel. The characters, cultivation, universe, power scaling, fights... everything is below average. By far the worst Er Gen novel.

The greatest Er Gen novel that makes you cry. The ending was perfect, embodying the spirit of the other translation, Beseech the Devil. The ending wrapped up what loose ends there were left off from the start. Overall, amazing read, and 11/10.
