I don't know about regressor's tale of cultivation but Return of the Mount Hua Sect is one of the most entertaining Murim light novels. MC doesn't go back in time but revives after 100 years and finds his sect is on the brink of destruction and starts climbing ranks while restoring the the sect, taking revenge on allies that abandoned it and preparing for a new threat. The MC is badass, righteous with a foul mouth and humiliates hypocrites by using implied connotations or exploiting ones that cannot be said out loud. Dialogues are fun with some great moments. Nice comedy where even the MC can become the butt of the joke sometimes. Most side characters have layers so they're not generic. Solid world building where factions have interests. The LN is "safe" but has enough bits and nods to darker and deeper themes in the background. Well rounded LN with high energy, likable characters and enough verisimilitude to make the world believable.

I agree with that. Usually a novel is more complex and detailed than its adaptation, but in the case of ROMHS, the webtoon carefully covers everything from the general story down to every conversation, so the novel doesn’t have more value, if not for its number of chapters.
