Chapter 76

Lu Zheng soon came back with the doctor. After inspecting Yan Liang the doctor told Lu Zheng : “There should be no major problem, her only problem is that she is exhausted, it is best to stay in the hospital for a few days.”

Lu Zheng felt some relief and asked the doctor what they needed to be careful about.

The doctor narrated all his instructions one by one , then indulged in a bit of light hearted banter , “ Your husband is really nervous. In the last two days when you were unconscious , I haven’t seen him look anywhere else but towards the bed.”

Husband ?

When Yan Liang tried to correct the doctor , he had already turned to Lu Zheng intending to say goodbye. “ I’ll be with the intern visiting other rooms. I’ll leave now but you can call me any time .”

Lu Zheng accompanied the doctor to the door. When he came back , he saw Yan Liang silently staring at him

He seemed to have instantly guessed what was going on, and before she opened her mouth, he walked to the window and explained, “I did not specifically tell your doctor about our relationship, and did not realise that he misunderstood. “

Saying this , he pushed open the curtains.

Yan Yan looked behind , it wasn’t too late at night, but rather, evening. The last traces of sunlight were fading from the sky.

Yan Liang looked at the sky, but her mind was somewhere else

The CEO of a large company took full responsibility of her meals. He called home to ask the chef to prepare four dishes and a soup.Hearing him , Yan Liang gave a lot of specifications – spicy , not too much salt , no onions, rice needs to be cooked till soft etc

Lu Zheng’s driver got food from his home for the first time. Lu Zheng watched as Yan Liang ate but barely moved his own chopsticks.

There was a sudden throb of pain in her hand and she frowned as he pulled back her hand , unaware that Lu Zheng had noticed this.

He didn’t say anything. He pulled the stool to sit down near her , took the spoon in his hand , scooped the soup and brought it near her lips

This only made Yan Liang even more uncomfortable so that she was unable to swallow

Yan Liang stared at the spoon , then suddenly picked up the chopsticks from the bowl and devoured the food

This was a refusal in disguise. Lu Zheng was taken aback , but as was his nature, he didn’t say anything and quietly put the spoon down.

Yan Liang finished the food soon and put aside the chopsticks. “ I am ok now , you go home and rest.”

He smiled: “You really do not want to see me?”

Although his tone was joking, his eyes revealed a fragile emotion. In front of this man, even if she didn’t have the courage , she couldn’t be cruel, “You are the one I rely on. I can’t imagine how I can manage if you are tired.”

Lu Zheng carefully thought about it and finally smiled and stood up ,”Then I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Yan Liang didn’t know whether she felt relieved or guilty as she watched Lu Zheng disappear through the door. But he suddenly came back and said,” You have already said no one can live in your heart anymore. But as long as I believe it, my dictionary will not have the words ‘ give up’. I will take the time to prove you wrong.”

His voice was very gentle, as if to heal all her scars.

Yan Liang could almost believe she would get a second chance.

(Miumiu : Isn’t it ironic that Yan Liang envies XZ for having ZC by her side in the hospital, but when LZ literally provides the same support to her she can’t wait for him to leave ? The heart wants want and it wants and is so irrational..)

But after a few hours, in the dead of night, when Yan Liang woke up from a nightmare , when she could once again visualise the figure lying in the intensive care unit behind her closed eyes, the invisible scars starting throbbing with pain again

This faint but consistent pain made her pull out the infusion needle , put on her slippers and leave the ward.

From her ward to the intensive care unit, the journey normally took less than three minutes.

But Yan Liang took more than ten minutes. When she reached the door, she was already tired. She slowed down as she felt dizzy

At this point , she heard someone speak to her, “Hello.”

She looked up and saw a nurse looking like a young girl staring at her a while before continuing ,”Aren’t you the lady who fainted here a couple of days ago?”

Yan Liang looked at her but couldn’t recall where she had seen her earlier

The nurse however seemed to have recognised her ,” I just wanted to tell you that the patient has been transferred out of the ICU.”

“ Transferred out ?”

Did that mean that he had survived this time ?

Yan Liang was unable to understand if she was shocked because she was overjoyed or because she was unwilling

“ Every time I used to go there at night, I always found you sitting outside”, the nurse turned back and said, “would you like to meet him now?”

Thousands of words choked in her throat, but all Yan Liang said was “Thank you.”

Jiang Yu Nan had now been transferred to a private hospital which meant that Yan Liang had again lost the connection.

This time, Yan Liang thought back to the time he had disappeared for nearly half a month. Perhaps he was sick then too..

And she couldn’t speak to anyone about this

What were the happenings in the past trying to to tell her ? Even Yan Liang was unable to understand clearly.

“ I now believe in karma” she said. “ You treated Song Jinpeng unfairly, the Xu house was destroyed. Now Jiang Yu Nan destroyed the Xu house, and he is seriously ill, Xu Ziqing is on bail. But what about Jiang Shi jun? How did God spare him?”

But opposite her, there was only Xu Jinfu’s black and white photo to answer her, only his indifferent eyes.

Hiwever Jiang Shi Jun had not stopped playing his tricks..

Yan Liang was in a meeting when her assistant answered a phone call on behalf of her. But after listening to two or there sentences, the assistant’s face changed and she anxiously walked to the conference table and interrupted Yan Liang’s speech, “ Ms Yan.”

“What ?!” Yan Liang could not help but exclaim out loud.

”And they also intend to release it before us.”

The severity of the problem was evident. Yan Liang’s brain was immediately searching for a solution. She asked: “Where did you get the

news?”

The R & D manager did not answer, but went on to say: “We got some of their samples, we just sent it to the laboratory for comparison. “

This time Yan Liang left the meeting and walked toward the door of the conference room, “ After the results come back, send it to the head office immediately.”

The results were out in less than half a day and placed on Yan Liang’s desk. She quickly read the reports and felt as if she was hit by a thunderbolt

She suddenly remembered when Xu Ziqing had worked with Jiang Shi Jun, ultimately the North American release of Secret had been obstructed because of allegations of plagiarism . Angrily she slammed the file on her desk.”How can the same thing happen again ?”
