Chapter 93

TL: Zimming

All eyes were on the Duchess of Vallua.

“W- we, uh……”

The Duchess was muttering with a pale face as she couldn’t find any excuse. She grabbed her son’s wrist and went out quickly.

Niel, who was being taken away by the Duchess, stared at me as if he would tear me to death, but I only waved my hands to him.

***

“My name is Michaela George. I’m still lacking much but I educate the children.”

“My name is Candida Dimonte. When I was young, I worked as a maid for the Empress.”

Those famous godmothers surrounded me and introduced themselves.

They all looked at me with glistening eyes as if they were expecting something.

I am also Dubbled’s child even though I am adopted. I was even given the Duchess name as my middle name.

Also the Empress was interested in me since the Luminous medicine incident.

Moreover, I corrected Niel back then. It naturally made my value soared.

I grinned as I tried not to express my burden.

‘I should keep it a secret that I could read ancient language.’

It’s already crowded, it’ll be even more annoying when that fact is revealed.

A loud voice came from the door when I was distressed by the ladies.

‘Camilla has arrived!’

The people gathered in twos and threes stepped back and bowed their heads.

I went near my aunt, bowed a little and saw Camilla.

I saw her in my previous lives but I still feel great seeing her. She always acts elegantly and never wasted any movement.

The host, Countess Walt, approached her with a smile.

“You came here. It’s an honour for us.”

“It’s a good party. I can feel you are meticulous in handling it.”

“I’m glad to hear that.”

Camilla looked around and said,

“It’s a great party, so let’s all enjoy it.”

Only then did the people with their hands on their chests and their backs bent went on their ways.

The noise returned to the party.

Camilla settled herself on a chair.

There aren’t many seats, but she sat at a good place.

‘As expected of the number one socialite.’

They all acted completely different from the Empress’ party last time.

They have factions, but they restrain the fighting.

The people enjoyed the party freely, but they didn’t forget the rules.

‘There are still a lot of people who want to ask her to be their godmother.’

She was surrounded by young ladies and their parents.

Camilla was very benevolent, she treated everyone fairly. She didn’t even become a godmother to anyone.

Suddenly,

“Lady Dubbled.”

I was startled to see her staring at me.

‘Huh?’

I didn’t think she’d call me in such a public space.

When I glanced at my aunt, she nodded and I headed to Camilla.

“I greet you.”

“Sit down here.”

Then she told the crowd around her.

“Can everyone leave us? I need to talk about something with the lady.”

It was needless to say that people were surprised. While stepping back, everyone glanced at this side with a curious expression.

“It’s been a few days.”

“Yes.”

“What have you been doing?”

“I took a walk and read books.”

“Is it a book with the passage you told me last time?”

“Yes! It’s my favorite book.”

“I’m thankful.”

Then she looked at me with gentle eyes.

“I want to give a present to you. I was wondering what kids would like the most these days, but I decided to give you what you want instead. Is there anything you want?”

She asked me.

“A gift for me?”

“Yes, I’m grateful for the lady. Thanks to you, I could find someone precious.”

She seems to have decided to accept Leticia and Lionel.

‘She will soon officially be the Grand Duchess and the Duke’s child.’

I didn’t say anything and smiled.

“Don’t you wonder who’s so precious? You must be curious.”

“You’re very wise, so I trust your intention. If you don’t tell me the details then I don’t think I should hear it.”

Her eyes, which treated me like a child, changed.

“Lady is very clever.”

“I’m flattered.”

“No, you’re really clever. I mean it.”

She stared at me. I didn’t avoid her gaze.

“I appreciate your words, but I don’t think I am clever.”

“What do you want and need?”

“If it’s necessary…”

I pretended to think.

“Wait, but that’s something you can’t give me.”

“Aren’t you underestimating me?”

She asked playfully. I said firmly.

“You can’t give me people.”

“People? Do you need people? You already have so much of them. Your capable father, outstanding brothers and aunt who is the most popular. I heard that a lot of talented people are around you.”

“What I need is someone who can teach me. Dad said that. I’m Lady of Dubbled, so I’ll have to act like it. But I’m still young, so I don’t know anything.”

“……you want a godmother?”

“But my family can’t do that. I need someone to be my second mother.”

“……”

“I really need someone who I can trust and follow like a mother.”

“I see. You’re right.”

Then, a chocolate fountain came in. It was a gift from the party organizer to the children.

As I stared at the children running excitedly, I felt dizzy.

‘I’m gonna be excited too!’

I thought so and shouted, “Wow!”

“Go and see.”

At the words of Camilla, I got up and went to the chocolate fountain.

As I walked, I felt Camilla looking at my back.

While I was looking at the reflection on the fountain, Camilla beckoned her maid and looked at me.

‘Dubbled…find out…how far her education is.’

After barely reading the shape of the mouth reflected in the fountain, I moved the biscuit to the bowl and smiled.

It seemed that there was not much time left for me to have a godmother.

***

‘And as expected!’

I looked out to the window in the carriage.

Camilla invited me for dinner. It was surprising and many people were shocked.

My family was discussing the invitation when I said,

“I want to go!”

Dad finally decided to send me there.

“If you don’t sit properly, you’ll get hurt.”

…with Johann.

I answered, “Yes…” and straightened out my posture.

The men dressed in neat uniforms greeted us after we got off the carriage.

“I greet the children of Dubbled.”

We followed their guide into the room.

Johann waited in the reception room as I headed to the room next to it.

“Call me as soon as they make you feel uncomfortable.”

Johann whispered after I nodded and went into the room.

“She’ll be here soon, so please wait patiently.”

After the butler left the room, I sat down carefully on the sofa.

“Yes.”

‘This is a VIP reception room where the Camilla

invites only a few people.’

“Wow…”

I looked around the room while admiring it.

It’s not super luxurious, but…

The room looks good. It was decorated with old ornaments but it looks elegant.

There was a terrace attached to the room, where sunlight poured through a large window and there were a lot of green trees and flowers outside.

‘Huh? Is that a Haro flower?’

I screamed inwardly at the sight of the flower.

It’s the flower that made me ill last time.

I went to the terrace to make sure that it was really a Haro flower, and if I am right, I will close the window.

After I put my hands on the window,

I could hear a voice calling someone from afar.

“….where are you!”

“….rince.”

“Prince Adrian!”

Thud!

I heard someone fall on the floor.

I turned my head in surprise.

“You…”

“……!”

The cool breeze scattered his blonde hair.

‘Adrian!’

I was so surprised as he opened his mouth,

“Isaac, why…”

As soon as he was muttering something,

I heard a squeak of hinges from the window of the room next door.

‘Johann’s in the room next door!’

I quickly pulled him and hid behind the curtain. And I caught Adrian’s wrist quickly and made him bend his knee.

If I could, I felt like stuffing him into my pocket.

My heart was pounding.

Adrian and Johann were naturally enemies. It was the biggest opportunity to put blades in each other’s throats.

I slipped my head out of the curtain, wondering if Johann had opened the door.

But all I can see is the servant’s uniform.

‘The butler must have opened the door.’

I sighed, and looked straight ahead.

His eyes were staring at me from a close distance.
