Chapter 69: Dao Grades

Outside the village, the arrogant voice continued talking. “I see that all of you have raised your weapons to fight. Why bother? It’s just a waste of time!”

Anna and George wanted to come out and see what was happening, but Wang Hao held their shoulders as he stopped them. “We will not go out. We will only do so if it is necessary.”

“But.....”

“No buts.” Eleanor interjected. “Let Wang Hao do all the saving.”

“Wait what?” Now, it was Wang Hao’s turn to be angry. “What do you mean I will do the saving? I was just about to give Chief Fou some battle strategies!”

Eleanor just rolled her eyes at that. “What use will your advice be now? The goldcoats are here already. If you want to help, then fight with them too. You said yourself that we owe them a favor right?”

Boner just snickered quietly at the side.

“Fine!” Wang Hao raised his hands in exasperation. “I will help them. Though I do not know how much help I can give them. As for you four, try to find a way to sneak away. If you four are found, are situation will be really bad.”

“Roger.” Eleanor and Boner did a mock salute. Anna and Geroge made a mock salute too, with their faces trying to look very serious.

“Sigh.” Wang Hao went outside the hut as he observed the current situation.

All the villagers that can fight were all gathering near the entrance of the village. All of them held their weapons, clearly ready to fight. Half of the villagers were at the Body Refinement Stage while 3 were only at the Qi Condensation Stage. Only Chief Fou was at the Foundation Establishment Stage.

As for the goldcoats, their assembly was more orderly compared to the distressed villagers. All of them wore brilliant golden armor with golden helmets covering their faces. All of them rode golden-armored horses. As for the formation, all the goldcoats assumed a 10×10 arrangement. Overall, there were 100 goldcoats at that time.

Leading all of these goldcoats was a visibly young man. His armor was clearly of the higher grade compared to the goldcoats. It has a better luster and has bulkier build. He had his helmet removed, revealing a ferocious face. He wore an expression of contempt as he stared at the hostile villagers.

The symbol of Tian Ji was clearly embossed on his helmet. This implies that he was a prince of the Tian Ji Empire.

“Listen to me, oh all of you.” The prince said in a solemn voice. “In the name of the glorious Goldscar family, this village shall now be under their control. Whoever resists, shall die!”

“Hahahahaha!” The goldcoats who were with the prince started jeering, clearly enjoying the incoming slaughter later.

Chief Fou could not take it anymore and he stood up.

“If you really want to get this village, you have to get over my dead body first!”

The prince looked towards the furious Chief Fou. His face has a pondering expression as he seemed to think of something. After a while, he let out a predatory smile as he stared at Chief Fou hungrily.

“Over your dead body? Hahaha! Well then, I shall entertain your puny challenge!” The prince alighted off his horse. The ground slightly trembled under all of his weight. He then started going near Chief Fou. Chief Fou tensed, tightening his hold of his spear.

“You are at the Foundation Establishment Stage, right? What a coincidence, I am at the Foundation Establishment Stage too, how delightful!” The prince flexed his arms as he squared himself.

“In that case, we shall have a duel!”

“A duel?” Chief Fou seemed confused for a moment, but it was replaced by a solemn expression on his face as he realized what the prince wants.

“It seems that you know the stakes of this duel already.” The prince smirked. “If you win, we will voluntarily leave this village of our own volition, and we will never bother it. But if I win, my golden guards shall sweep in and leave none of you alive!”

“How am I sure that you will keep your promise?”

“You doubt me, Prince Karl of the Goldscar Familiy? You dare doubt the family’s integrity?” Prince Karl was clearly incensed by this question. “If you do not dare to fight, we shall commence the slaughter!”

“Well then, we shall fight!” Sparks filled the surroundings as Chief Fou waved his spear. He pointed it towards Prince Karl as he shouted,

“Lightning Pierce!”

A bolt of lightning shot out of the spear’s tip, clearly heading towards Prince Karl’s head.

At the Foundation Establishment Stage, what was important to a cultivator was the strength of his ‘Dao’.

There are nine grades of Dao that can be realized. This grading system also applies for the Laws for the Godly Ascenders.

Mortal

King

Emperor

Earth

Heaven

Celestial

Immortal

Eternal

Paragon

With the Mortal Grade as the lowest, and the Paragon Grade as the highest.

The higher the grade of the dao that can be realized, the stronger the abilities of the cultivator will be. But even if the dao that a cultivator realized was low, there was still a chance for them to raise the grade of their dao.

To improve the grade of their dao, the cultivators must be able to be able to acquire an enlightenment. This enlightenment will then help to upgrade their dao.

The grade of the Daos and Laws must be regarded with importance, since it will be vital even for those at the Ninth Stage. It was said that a Peak Ninth Stage Powerhouse with a Paragon Grade Dao or Law will be considered to be invincible under the Tenth Stage.

But realizing a high grade dao or law and improving it will be really difficult. From what Wang Hao remembered from his restricted memories, there was no one who was able to have a Paragon Grade Dao or Law. The highest he can remember was his father-in-law comprehending an Eternal Grade Law.

As for Chief Fou, the grade of his dao was at the Mortal Grade.

Because of the limited resources, the Foundation Establishment Pill and Foundation Establishment Scripture that he used were of the Mortal Grade. This only made him able to realize a Mortal Grade Lightning Dao.

When a mortal sees a lightning strike, what does he see? He sees a long, bright object that plunges towards the ground. That was Chief Fou’s Mortal Lightning Dao. He can use the lightning in his body to produce sharp, long ranged attacks. At this situation, he used the strongest strike he can. The ‘Lightning Piere’.

But Prince Karl just looked at the incoming attack dismissively.

“Boring!”

He waved his hand, and a golden shield appeared in front of him. Chief Fou’s attack bounced off the shield as it disintegrated into nothingness.

“What!!!!!!!”

“Hehe, you, a trifling Mortal Grade Cultivator, dares to show off that pitiful lightning on my King Grade Gold Dao? What a shame!”

Because of his good upbringing, Prince Karl was able to realize a King Grade Gold Dao. But in the Goldscar Family, his dao grade can be considered as just average. The strongest young generation in the Goldscar Family had a Emperor Grade Gold Dao. This relegated Prince Karl to the sidelines.

As for why he was here in the village, he discovered something in it that made him want to covet the village. In fact, he haven’t told the Goldscar Family about this village! He wanted to get the sole benefits from the village.

As for the golden guards with him, he had no worries. They were extremely loyal to him, as he promised them incentives for keeping quiet.

With this, his dao was able to surpress Chief Fou’s dao.

In front of a king, what can a mortal even do?

After blasting away Chief Fou’s attack, Prince Karl started his offensive. He drew a golden sword from his scabbard. He then slashed it towards Chie Fou. At the instant of his slash, a golden blade appeared, heading straight towards Chief Fou!

Gold is a type of metal. Any kind of metal has two main characteristics. They are durable, and sharp when shaped well. Prince Karl’s King Gold Dao clearly focused on increasing the sharpness of his attacks.

Not only that, but because of the difference of their Dao Grades, Chief Fou’s Dao Foundation was also becoming unstable. This suppression made it impossible for him to dodge the golden blade that was about to decapitate him.

He closed his eyes, ready to accept his death. His only regret was that he failed to save his village.

“Forgive me, Ya’er...”

A hand suddenly appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the golden blade. The hand made a grasping motion, and the golden blade burst apart.

Upon the golden sparks that floated appeared Wang Hao’s slightly peeved face.

“Who the hell are you?” Prince Karl was angry for someone interrupting his match, but he knew that someone who can crush his blade easily was no pushover.

“My name? Let me show you!”

Wang Hao suddenly appeared in front of Prince Karl. He clenched his fist as he threw a punch towards his chest. Prince Karl immediately summoned a golden shield in front of him.

But the shield did not help at all.

The shield cracked and burst apart as Wang Hao’s punch barreled through it. The fist continued its path until it his Prince Karl on his chest.

“Boom!”

Prince Karl’s chest caved in as it was not able to endure the strength of a punch of a Peak Second Stage.

Not only that, but the strength of Wang Hao’s punch was able to make a hole in Prince Karl’s chest.

With Wang Hao’s energy manipulation, he was able to make the hole on Prince Karl’s chest appear as a set of symbols.

Wang Hao held Prince Karl’s corpse as he showed off the symbols he made to his golden guards.

你们都死了(You are all dead)
