Chapter 475: Sudden Invitation

“But even with my current breakthrough, I am still nothing compared to the Ebony River...” Fang Lin muttered with a shiver as he stared at the Ebony River that was still flowing silently in front of him.

Fang Lin realized that even with all the power-ups that he had, his body will still be corroded by the Ebony River as long as it touches him!

“This river is really mysterious... I should ask Wang Hao about its origins...” Fang Lin muttered to himself as he wore a brand-new set of clothes.

“Time for me to return!”

Fang Lin then started to run back to the military camp, only to find that his current movement speed had exceeded his expectations.

“Boom!” With the sudden increase in his movement speed, Fang Lin was not able to momentarily control his movements, which led to him colliding with a large rock.

“Argh, that was embarrassing!” Fang Lin muttered to himself as he rubbed his forehead. “Good thing there are nobody around that saw what happened...”

Because of this comical encounter, Fang Lin was able to control his body better, which ensured no more mishaps on his return journey.

“I’m back~” Fang Lin muttered cheerfully to himself as he sneaked inside the military camp.

Because of Fang Lin’s seamless stealth skills none of the soldiers noticed his arrival.

As for Bai Huangdi and Veronica, both of them were still engrossed in their breakthroughs.

Fang Lin let out a discreet nod as he saw that the two heroes were still cultivating.

Breaking through the Sixth Sub-Realm is difficult, as it will test the heart and the mind of a practitioner.

Failure will mean death and success will entail another transformation of the core.

“Well, I can only try breaking through the Sixth Sub-Realm once I get my inspiration... As for now, I must focus on strengthening my Nascent Souls...”

Fang Lin then casted a covetous look at Bai Huangdi’s residence, as if there was something inside there that was enticing him.

Of course that thing is not Bai Huangdi.

What Fang Lin was interested in was the possibility of Bai Huangdi wielding a Universe Flame!

Bai Huangdi is following Huo Huangdi, who is the master of all flames.

Since it was like that, it is highly plausible that Huo Huangdi had at least given Bai Huangdi one Universe Flame that he can use in the Final Trial.

The only reason Fang Lin and Veronica could not sense this Universe Flame at all was because Bai Huangdi must be saving it as his trump card.

“If I get in contact with that Universe Flame, there is a chance that my Ice-Fire Nascent Soul will improve...” Fang Lin muttered as his gave turned more and more heated. “As for the Cosmic Ice... I am sure that Veronica has one!”

While being disguised as General Draco, Fang Lin was able to discover some secrets that Veronica had been hiding.

Since Veronica fully trusted General Draco(Fang Lin), she was a more loose in her words everytime she talked to him.

With that, Fang Lin was able to infer some important information from her words.

And one of this information was the fact that Veronica had a Cosmic Ice in her possession!

“As long as I get in contact with those two objects, my Ice-Fire Nascent Soul might undergo more than one Soul Reformations!” Fang Lin thought zealously to himself as he began to fiddle his fingers.

“But for me to see those two precious objects, both Bai Huangdi and Veronica must be forced to use them...”

“That means I have to do something later in the invasion that will put both Bai Huangdi and Veronica in grave danger. Only at that point that they will use the Universe Flame and the Cosmic Ice.”

“But how will I do it?” Fang Lin then tilted his head as he tried to think up of a solution.

But while he was busy on ruminating his plan, a sudden shaking interrupted him.

He immediately looked around him as the shaking continued.

10 seconds have already passed by, and the shaking still has not stopped.

By this point, everyone was already panicking, and the only one that seemed to be calm were Bai Huangdi, Veronica and Illusion Fang Yu.

Well, all of them are cultivating right now, so they can’t really care about the weird shaking around them.

“Is this a natural earthquake or a man-made one?” Fang Lin did not have to wait that long for an answer as he saw something in the horizon that was quickly approaching them.

He saw countless figures covered in black robes.

The way they moved was ethereal, as if they will easily disappear and meld with the surroundings.

Fang Lin, who knew that it was his first time seeing them, actually felt a sense of familiarity with them.

After a few seconds of staring at them, Fang Lin already realized where the familiar feeling came from.

It came from Yao’er!

With that feeling and the way the newcomers looked, Fang Lin was able to easily determine their identity.

“These people must have been Shadow Demons...”

Fang Lin knew that the Shadow Demons all lived together in one Demonic Kingdom, and their Demon King was Demon King Nyx, who was obviously Jieshu.

From what Fang Lin knew, Shadow Demons were extremely effective assassins, as they can meld with shadows around them.

This ability makes them extremely frightening, especially at night!

Their abilities are actually quite similar to Yao’er.

But Fang Lin did not waste his time admiring their skills. After all, Shadow Demons appearing in this place is extremely wrong, as this area was near the territory of the Ebony River Kingdom!

“Why are the Shadow Demons here!” The Great General muttered as he mustered his troops. “There is no way that Demon King Seigneur will allow the Shadow Demons to just cross his territory!”

“Well, what if Demon King Seigneur and Demon King Nyx are in an alliance right now...” Fang Lin slowly said as his gaze turned grave.

“If they are allied, then that can explain why Demon King Nyx’s Shadow Demons are here in Demon King Seigneur’s territory.”

“Now that is the worst thing that I have ever heard.” The Great General listlessly said as he gritted his teeth in anger.

“.....” Fang Lin knew that with the alliance between Wang Hao and Jieshu, invading Wang Hao’s Ebony River Demonic Kingdom will be extremely difficult right now.

“Time for plan B then...”

Fang Lin’s stay with Wang Hao was long enough for him to have grasp on his personality.

Fang Lin knew that Wang Hao was a brash, but devilishly clever person.

No matter what the situation was, Wang Hao has something that can help him out of the problem, and most of the times his solutions were convoluted or out of the left field.

With that analysis, Fang Lin was able to think that Wang Hao might try to ally with an enemy Yama Prince!

And from what had Fang Lin seen, Wang Hao really had allied with Jieshu!

“If the Great General is not careful, many of his soldiers will die.” Fang Lin thought to himself as he saw the Shadow Demons getting nearer and nearer.

To Fang Lin’s surprise and incredulity, the Shadow Demons stopped their movements once they were 100 meters away from the soldier camp.

Both sides were tense, and only the Great General and the presumably leader of the Shadow Demons seemed calm.

Upon seeing what was happening, Fang Lin realized that the Shadow Demons were here for a different reason.

“What do you want?” The Great General did not mince his words as he talked rudely to the leader of the Shadow Demons. “Don’t tell me that you lot just went here to welcome us?”

“That is actually what we were doing.” The Leader Shadow Demon replied quickly. “We are sent here by Demon King Seigneur and Demon King Nyx to welcome you all.”

“What?” Fang Lin and the others could not believe what they just heard.

Demon King Seigneur actually dared to treat his invading enemies as mere guests! Even Fang Lin, who was already used to Wang Hao’s antics, could not help but get confused with what just happened.

“We are also confused as well.” The leader Shadow Demon said as he gave a hostile look at the Great General. “But an order is an order, so just treat all of us as your tour guides.”

“Heh! Do you think I will believe this horses**t that you just spouted?” The Great General cackled as his face turned red. “Do you think we are idiots who will just accept an invitation like that? Only idiots will agree to what you said!”

“Well, we do not need your approval...” The leader Shadow Demon said as he stared at the residences of the three heroes.

The leader Shadow Demon then gave the Great General a derisive look as he said,

“The invitation was actually just intended for the Three Heroes... As for the soldiers and generals, they are just decorations. Whether you will get to join will depend on the Heroes’ opinions.”

“You!!!” The Great General tried to leap at the leader Shadow Demon, but before he could do so, a sudden pressure covered the whole area, which forced everyone to kneel.

Fang Lin of course was unaffected by the pressure, but since he was acting as General Draco, he also knelt.

As this pressure continued on forcing everyone to kneel, a sudden snort came from Veronica’s residence, which was immediately heard by everyone nearby.

“You said that you invited us here on behalf of two Demon Kings? Where is your proof then?”

“This one.” The leader Shadow Demon seemed to be extremely prepared as he smoothly drew out something from his robes.

He then threw this object towards Veronica’s residence.

A hand then came out of Veronica’s residence, which caught the thrown object.

That hand naturally came from Veronica, and the object that she caught was now inside her residence.

Because of the suddenness of the situation, Fang Lin was unable to see the object that Veronica caught.

But if it was given to her, it must have been incomparably precious.

A few minutes of silence passed by before Veronica gave her reply.

“Fine, I will gladly accept your invitation. As for the other 2 Heroes, it will be up to them if they want to go too.”

After hearing what Veronica said, Fang Lin let out a sigh as he made Illusion Fang Yu leave her residence.

“Hey, I will accept the invitation too!” Illusion Fang Yu said as she hastily left her tent. “I will not allow that Bronica to get more benefits than me!”

“Did you just pronounce my name wrong, Fak Yu?” Veronica snarled back as she left her residence angrily.

Both Illusion Fang Yu and Veronica then glared at each other, with their faces showing their intense desire to fight.

Everyone resisted the urge to facepalm, as they waited on the remaining Hero that was still in his residence.

Everyone looked at Bai Huangdi’s residence, as they wanted to see his opinion regarding the invitation.

Few more minutes passed by without Bai Huangdi saying anything.

Just as everyone was about to give up, they suddenly saw Bai Huangdi coming out of his residence.

Just by looking at his face, Fang Lin already knew Bai Huangdi’s answer.

“Well, let’s get going now!” Illusion Fang Yu said to Bai Huangdi and Veronica as she flew towards the Shadow Demons.

“Now that we can get near the two of them, the chances of us killing those two Demon Kings will be much higher!”
