The Extra's Survival
Chapter 3: Hunting

30 minutes to reach Mist city...

The beautiful robotic announcement of the announcer woke me up from my short sleep.

With a yawn, I stretched my hands lazily as I looked at my watch. It was almost 10 PM.

One could almost see the Mist city from afar as it was dazzling bright with the skyscrapers illuminating the whole city.

Thinking for a moment, I looked at the stats point on the status window and decided to add each in agility and perception. Although I will be in the outer region, I should be careful as the Mist forest is one of the unexplored lands in this world with both opportunity and peril.

Thinking about this there is a secret skill in it that is of great use, which the protagonist found in his hunting expedition in the second year mistakenly after hiding from a high-level beast.

"No, I shouldn't be too greedy I don't know if I can fight a low-level beast. I will think about it when I become stronger."

Clearing my head I put the used stat points on agility and perception.

[Swordsmanship level:Beginner]

Your understanding of swords is at the beginner level. The more level of swordsmanship increased the easier it becomes for you to grasp the concept of the sword arts.

Bloodline ability[Locked]

High agility will allow me to run away if, by any chance, I met an F or E rank beast, while the perception stat is of great to use in the awareness.

A person with high awareness can not only detect danger from a long distance it also allows the person to send its enemies having concealment skills.

The train has reached the mist city.

Passengers, please exit the train in order.

The beautiful voice announced.

I exited the train and started looking for an inn at a low price.

It was already late up the night and I don't have the luxury to admire the city's beauty.

Checking in an inn, I tried my best to sleep but nightmares kept me awake the whole night.

The next morning, I started gearing myself. I put on the suit I purchased for battle. I put the daggers at the side of my knee. The sword at the left side of the waist and the potions and health kit in the backpack.

Keeping everything in place, started my journey towards the forest.

After walking for four hours I finally reached the forest.

The closer I got to the forest, the more variation in topography I noticed. There was a change in vegetation as the bushes and shrubs are replaced by small trees and big trees.

The loose sandy soil became firm and I could see traces of beast on the ground but luckily, I still have to encounter a beast.

Before entering the forest, I sprayed myself with an anti-beast spray which would get rid of my scent finding it harder for the beast to track me through the smell.

As I stood at the outer surface of the forest, I could see fog although it was very thin. The name of this city and forest is easy to guess seeing the fog.

"Hmm."

It seems the deeper one goes the thicker the mist becomes. The reason for the forest not being explored is because of the mist. Once you are deep inside the forest it is difficult for you to know the road to the outside and many who want to seek opportunity end up dead with no one to find their corpse

Unless you are higher ranked or have good tracking skills, you will be just knocking on the death door by stepping into the forest.

That's why I only decided to roam on the outskirts of the forest to get fighting experience and another reason is if I can kill a G rank beast and get a G rank core. I can earn at least a few thousand although it is very rare to get a core.

Even if I can't get a core, I can sell the corpse of the beast and monster carcass as they are useful in various ways.

If you think what's the difference between monster and beast. A monster is a high-level beast who have significant intelligence. An S rank monster intelligence can be more or less compared to humans and they can even speak and understand human language monsters are mainly found in dungeons while beasts are found in natural habitats.

Tack~

I heard the sound of a broken twig, a beast must be nearby.

Raising my vigilance, I took out the sword and started scanning my surrounding.

Bending down, I started to move forward to the direction of the sound with light steps.

Hiding beside the tree, I glanced at the side of the grey to find a grey rabbit who was digging the soil.

'Should I kill this rabbit?'.

Pondering for a moment I decided to kill it, if nothing else I can eat a roast rabbit.

Raising my sword, I dashed forward at my full speed and swing the sword downwards on it.

Seemingly realise someone is coming without looking back it jumped to the left missing the arc of my sword.

"What."

A frown appeared on my face.

" How did it know. Moreover, how can an ordinary rabbit can evade the speed of a 1-star human warrior."

Thinking for a second.

"Shit." I cursed

Fool, how can there be a normal rabbit, this world is not the same I used to live in.

Realising my mistake I turned towards the rabbit. The rabbit which looked harmless from the backside had red eyes with long nails.

Even it is way bigger compared to a normal rabbit and to make the situation worse, it is rushing toward me looking like a predator.

Without panicking, I held the sword at the right hand and took out the dagger throwing straight towards it with my left hand.

Seeing the daggers coming towards it, it made a jump in the air straight towards me.

Seeing it jump at me, I took a deep breath holding the sword in both hands and turned at 45° to avoid it and slash the sword horizontally aiming at it.

The rabbit tried to block the sword with its paw but with the full force of the swing, the side of the sword tore half of its chest.

Seeing my chance I stab its head, pinning it on the ground. Struggling for a few seconds to get out it finally died. A small line flashed on my retina at the death of the rabbit.

Huff. Huff.

Panting heavily, I fall to the ground as my legs give in.

Although I managed to kill it, the moves I used were purely out of instinct and although my profession is swordsmanship, I don't even know how to hold a sword properly.

Even a 9-year-old kid can defeat me in the sword fight.

"Why the hell did my every move miss the point I wanted to attack."

" Arghhhh."

Just how difficult is to weld a sword and on top of that I let my guard down seeing the rabbit. If I haven't come here and gone directly to Horizon, I would have become a laughing stock in the entire academy.

No, it can't go on like this. Even if I am thinking of it as a different world, my mindset is still the same. After all, I can't change my view of this world in a few days.

I have to adapt to this world quickly and get stronger otherwise I don't even know when I die after all I am just an extra who has no value in this world.

Just as there is protagonist halo where when the protagonist is in danger someone or something that save him and when the heroines are in danger the protagonist emerges at the right time saving her.

As an extra, there is nothing such as an extra halo, so I can only depend on myself to survive.

I shouldn't doze off in a place like this. I quickly got up and looked around at any possible danger and looked at the rabbit pinned on the ground with the sword.

The green blood along with the smell gave me a headache. Looking at the shape of the corpse gave an urge to vomit.

Trying my best to compose myself I took out the sword took the corpse and went outside the forest to camp.

Finding a suitable place outside, I took out a ball and press the button at its top I am throwing it. The ball started swelling up and finally took the shape of the tent.

"Modern technology always makes marvel."

I unloaded my bag and checked the rabbit to see if it was a ranked beast or normal.

Sigh.

Just a normal beast till it gave me a hell of a run. If I encountered a G ranked beast I was gonna be eaten by it.

" I shouldn't lose hope. I will roast it and give a toast to myself for my arrival in this world. "

Lighting the fire, I barbequed the meat sitting beside it cleaning the blood on the sword.

Remembering the light opened my status window to see there is 10 exp at the corner.

Killing it gave me 10 exp. Just how long will it take to collect 500 exp to open the shop.

"I still don't know what the use of this exp. Will, it increase my level? Seeing that it requires exp to open the shop I think it will be medium to buy from the shop."

Meanwhile, I should practice my sword daily and then the forest to hunt. At least I should get my basics correct before the opening of the academy.

I looked up at the sky thinking about my family as night descended with tears in my eyes.

"Mother, Father may you be safe."

Although we may not meet again I pray that you may stay safe and healthy.
