The Extra's Survival
Chapter 76: Visiting A Blacksmith[2]

Lucas looked at the weapons consisting of swords, daggers, spears and greatsword along with many armours which ranged from D ranked to A rank.

Lucas could tell how excellent the weapons were despite thier shabby shapes just by looking.

Clearing his thoughts he coughed a few times and spoke"Hello. Is Sir Bentley here?"

The sound of hammer stopped and a man of short height and white beard opened the door and greeted Lucas and asked"Lad. What weapon do you want?"

'This must be the correct person 'Lucas thought.

Sir Bentley is a dwarf. According to the novel he lost his parents early and was taken as a slave.

The owner of this blacksmith took pity on him and brought him and treated him as his child passing his skills. Though he may not look like it, he is an expert craftsman after all blacksmithing is in the genes of dwarfs.

Lucas took out the ore gregorite ore from his storage looked and placed it on the shelf before Bentley and spoke"Grandpa, I want to make a weapon."

"Grandpa... ?' Bentley's ear twitched a little and become a little red on hearing the term grandpa.

In the novel, it was described that he like small kids and had a soft heart for those who call him grandpa which may be due to his rough childhood, he treats other children quite nicely.

Lucas just smiled a little noticing Bentley's expression. He was liking the feeling of calling someone his grandpa.

" Okay enough of that. What type of weapons do you want?"Bentley asked as he examined the ore before him.

"Hmmm. B grade gregorite." He muttered.

"Can you make a sword with it?" Lucas asked.

"Yes and no." He replied.

"Hein." Lucas was confused hearing his reply.

"What do..?"

Before Lucas could speak, Bentley cut off his speech in the mid-sentence and spoke"If you want to make a sword entirely of this weapon then I can't do it as the amount is not sufficient to make a sword. But if you want to make it by using additional material added to it then it's possible. So what do you say?"

Lucas rubbed his chin and thought' I already had a C ranked sword. If I want ro make a sword spending some money then I should at least get an A-ranked sword.'

He thought of making a sword because he already had the materials so there wouldn't be too much cost to craft a sword but if the additional material is needed, it would surely require a huge sum of money after all a B ranked sword originally priced around 20-30 million R.

Even spending a few million would be too much for him for now. He wanted to earn a few million before spending.

Contemplating over it, Lucas asked "Grandpa how about the daggers. I want short handle daggers in the shape of kunai but slightly longer. How many can you make with it?"

"Hmm" rubbing his chin, Bentley imagined the structure of the dagger and calculated the amount required.

After thinking about the things he gave, Lucas a brief"If you want daggers of 15 cm, I can make about 3 of them but if you want a shorter one with 10 cm, I think I can get around 5."

"So," Bentley asked raising his brow.

"Make around five and make sure to make them extra sharper with double-edged and can you make it as light as possible." Lucas gave a brief about the type and shape of the dagger he wanted.

Bentley took out a sheet from the drawer and started to draw the design. He wanted Lucas to see the shape and give his necessary opinion. After all, what Lucas asked was a custom made dagger suitable for him.

Seeing Bentley engrossed in his imagination, Lucas decided to take a tour of the shop.

Lucas looked at one of the swords. Holding it he just gave a simple swing to feel it, then he looked at a pair of the gauntlet.

Looking at the gauntlets, he thought in the future he should buy a pair of gauntlets and keep them just in case of emergency.

Lucas picked an item on the shelf which looked like a dagger about twenty-five centimetres long. Unlike other weapons and armour, it was covered in rust.

Lucas rubbed it a little and blew the dust by blowing air from his mouth.

"Cough.Cough...Cough.." Lucas coughed as the dust hovered in the air.

As the dust settle, Lucas looked at the red shining dagger. As he slid his hands on it, he felt that it was rather dull, what surprised him was that it was not made of any metal rather the texture of the dagger felt like some kind of bone or teeth of a beast or monster.

"Grandpa, what is the rank of the dagger?" Lucas asked as the dagger had managed to draw his

curiosity.

"Hein." Bentley snapped out of his thoughts as he was drawing the dagger and he glanced at Lucas holding a red coloured dagger.

"Ohh! that. It doesn't have any rank. It's useless." Bentley spoke scratching his head.

Lucas furrowed his eyebrows on hearing his answer and looked at the dagger once again and then looked at Bentley and asked"Then why is it here?"

"It has been here for ages. It was from the time my father was handling the shop. Even he didn't remember from where he got this piece but he said it was certain that he hadn't made it." Bentley explained as he went back to drawing the design.

"It edges are dull even if I tried to grind and sharpen it's an edge there is no effect. So who the hell in his right mind would buy this piece of junk. Even kitchen knives are sharper than it. But one thing it is very durable. No matter how hard I grind or heat it, there is not a slight change in its structure," Bentley spoke.

Lucas holding the dagger was lost in thought.

'Even the owner of the shop doesn't know about it. Either it is too good or too bad. Maybe an appraisal can know its value.'Lucas muttered inwardly.

The more Lucas stared at the dagger, the more he felt he needed to have it. It was as if his sixth sense or inner gut feeling was screaming and telling him that this dagger would be useful to him in future.

"Hey brat, I have finished drawing the design. Take a look."

Bentley's voice woke me up from thoughts.

Taking the dagger with me, I went near the counter and looked at the design.

'It looked nice.'Lucas thought. Seeing the shape and design of the dagger gave him a sense of excitation.

'I can't wait to use this.'Lucas muttered inwardly.

Lucas and Bentley spoke about the final handle grip and final touches. Since this shop is for custom made weapons, the weapons are usually made by the customer description and like so that they may have good affinity with each other.

After finalising everything about the dagger, Lucas asked"How much will be the cost."

Bentley didn't speak anything and raised 2 fingers to indicate the price.

"What!!! two million for each dagger." Lucas frowned.

He thought the forging price was too much. A dagger of B rank would usually cost around four million.

So, he thought coming here would save a huge amount of money but two million for forging still sounds a bit too much.

Cough.Cough...

Clearing his throat, Bentley spoke"Brat do you think, I am a bandit. Why are giving me that kind of expression?"

"And I asked for two hundred thousand for each not two million. You are the one who took it wrong."

Lucas's lips twitched several times hearing Bentley.'Hess!! Since weapons generally cost million, seeing him raising two fingers, I thought it will be two million.'

Still, Lucas relaxed a little on hearing the price of forging. If going by the suit he had already saved 10-15 million of currency by coming here.

"Okay. Grandpa, by the way, I wanted to buy this dagger." Lucas spoke placing the dagger on the counter.

Bentley took the dagger and after much thought said"Just give me 10,000R. It's just a useless piece that just takes up the place here with nowhere to go."

"For the forging fee, you have to pay 20% advanced and rest just before the delivery."

Lucas nodded and transferred the amount.

"Your package will be transferred to your place. Give your address."

Lucas gave his address and his room number and as he looked back at Bentley's place after looking at the design of the dagger, he found Bentley staring at him like he had seen a ghost.

Lucas, seeing Bentley staring at him like this, asked"What?"

"What are you doing here?" Bentley asked.

"To forge a weapon," Lucas spoke nonchalantly.

Bentley facepalmed listening to Lucas and spoke"I am asking how a rich brat like you came here in this dirty, shabby place. Dont you know much of the people of the capital hate to come here and like to stay away from this place? For them, this place is trash where bugs stay."

Cough...Cough...

"Grandpa, you are accusing me wrongly, I am not like any of them. I am a simple, honest and good fellow. I don't differentiate people based on thier status."Lucas spoke clearing his throat.

Bentley's eyes warmed him as he looked at Lucas and spoke" Whatever, you will get your thing. Now leave."

Lucas nodded, putting the dagger in the storage ring, he turned back walking toward the door.

Bentley looking at Lucas back thought about this small moment he spend with the boy before him who called him grandpa..grandpa.

Before Lucas stepped outside, he spoke"Brat, stopping calling me grandpa. I am not as old as you think."

Lucas turned back and with a gentle genuine smile, he spoke "Grandpa, take care of yourselves. In the future, you have to forge more weapons for me."
