No, it hadn’t been like that at the beginning. Li Jing was in a dither. On the surface, she still forced herself to look calm. When did Song Tingshen start treating her so coldly?

She couldn’t remember.

Had this started when she went around Assistant Chen to bring him the financial reports?

Li Jing didn’t know how to deal with this. She was at a total loss.

She instinctively called out in an aggrieved tone, “Big Brother Song…”

He had already gone back to looking at his computer screen. “You can go.”

At this moment, there was the sound of knocking. Assistant Chen had gotten the call from the receptionist. Not daring to delay for even a moment, he came knocking at the office door right after the call ended. Hearing Song Tingshen’s response, he said, “CEO Song, your wife and son are here. They’re at the front desk.”

This was simply a once in a thousand years marvel. Assistant Chen was so overwhelmed by surprise that Mrs. Song would come by the company and bring her son with her. He didn’t have the inclination or time to notice how Li Jing’s expression had become very ugly.

Song Tingshen raised his hand to look at his watch. “En, I got it.”

In the next second, he stood up. Without even glancing at Li Jing, he walked towards the door, looking as if he was going to personally pick up his wife and son.

Assistant Chen followed after his boss. They both ignored the person that was left standing in the office.

Li Jing bent over and put the small cake into the box. Carrying that unremarkable box, she walked out of the office. She had only walked a few steps when she saw Song Tingshen leading his son over here. Ruan Xia and Assistant Chen were following after the father and son pair while chatting and smiling. Li Jing quickly walked to the side to avoid meeting them face-to-face. She quickly walked back to the Finance Department. Right after sitting down, she heard the lively discussion between her nearby coworkers.

“I heard from Susan that CEO Song’s wife had stopped by. Sigh. I was only late by a few minutes. If I had gone to the front desk a little earlier to pick up the express delivery, I might have been able to see the boss’s wife. I heard that she’s super pretty and has a good figure like a celebrity!”

“A lot of coworkers saw her, but no one dared to take any photos. After all, if they were caught, it would be so awkward. Although, why did the boss’s wife come here?”

One of the staff looked at Li Jing and giggled as she asked, “Li Jing, I heard that your older brother is close friends with CEO Song. You’ve probably met the boss’s wife outside of work, right? Are they right about her being even more beautiful than a celebrity?”

The corners of Li Jing’s lips twitched. She answered, “She is very pretty.”

“So when they say it’s beneath the empress’s dignity to leave her palace to deal with competitors…” Another coworker glanced at Li Jing. “There was that woman from the Sales Department. What was her name?”

“Amy.”

“Yeah, Amy. She thought her youth and beauty was enough for her to get close to CEO Song and become his lover. She had no clue that CEO Song wouldn’t be interested at all. She ended up resigning with her tail between her legs. Even though I’m CEO Song ‘s fangirl, I know that he has a wife and son. I just treat it the same as chasing after a celebrity. Occasionally admiring him and praising him is enough for me. There’s no reason to challenge the moral bottom line.”

Most of the employees in the Finance Department were women, and women usually understood each other the best. The other women in the Finance Department knew about Li Jing’s intentions. Although they usually didn’t say anything to expose her, they were dissatisfied by her behavior and intentions.

Li Jing turned a deaf ear to this and expressionlessly tossed the box that had the small cake into the trash can.
