    Finished reading this on 120923, at the beginning of my second year in uni as a physics major. I will reread this after i finish my studies, and write a real review for this novel. For now, i can confidently say that its one of the best novels ive ever read, and it felt like it was written for me personally, because it had everything i liked and more (physics, music, decent lgbt rep for a chinese novel thats not a bl/gl, etc) It reignited my passion for physics so many times throughout my reading, so really if ur a science nerd/stem major u should rlly read this its so worth it

    Fantastic work of literature! I thoroughly enjoyed this masterpiece, and will probably start on LotM next as I've not read it yet. Really enjoyed the Magic and research behind its profundities. This is one the best novels I've read not just on here but in general, and I love the fantasy genre. I hope I can find works of a similar caliber or I'm gonna be bummed in the foreseeable future. If anyone has some recommendations, I would love to hear them. For all readers looking to start this one, it is a gem. Happy reading friends, and wish me luck on finding good novels!

        I have. It's a very good story. Not many characters I've read about as ruthless and decisive as Fang Yuan. It was nice to see a change of pace, and it was super well-written. One of my favorite parts of the story were learning about the beginning times and the first Gu.

    Does it heavily focus on religion and what not. Novel like those don’t sit right with me. I don’t mind it being in it but not a big part of the story.

      The novel has its own religious elements with religion taking the antagonist role for the story, but that is only because religion in this novel is backward and hypocritical and focuses on creating religious zealots that would do anything for the church while they control the world view of the mass by preying on their ignorance and lack of basic knowledge of how modern science works. I don't know if you understand what I mean but I do hope I was helpful. Salon the novel is really good and the magic system is one of the best in any fantasy and magic related book I've read, so give it a read finish vol 1 and I'm sure you'll want to continue after all it's a cuttlefish book vol1 is always a banger.

        hes a good author but lord of msytries wasn't sitting right with me, if a stroy is heavily based on religious themes its not for me. Not saying i don't want it in just if its alll its based on. thats why i asked

      It contemplates religious & scientific thinking maybe..? As for offensive against both ideas, it based on how we take it...! Religious side will be the antogonists in the novel but i would say they have their own importance too. So if you give it a try, it will be a good experience.
