Chapter 1691: The Peak of the Heavenly Courts

Chapter 1691 The Peak of the Heavenly Courts

Faced with the Ancestor God’s might, humanity was the only one among the peak races that did not instantly submit.

Tens of millions of demonic servants, a hundred Godly Monarchs, and an army of hundreds of thousands comprised from various races stood outside the Heavenly Courts.

The Heavenly Courts naturally had no means to resist. As the Celestial army arrived, the Heavenly Courts did not set up any array defenses. Even the entrance arrays were not activated.

In fact, activating the array was meaningless. An army of this scale would blast apart the array with one combined blow. It was even possible that the palace complex of the Heavenly Courts would be leveled along with the array.

At that moment, in the middle of a square in the Heavenly Courts, the two patriarchs, Polar and Sky Punishment, were sitting on seats of honor. And beneath them were the Godly Monarchs of the Heavenly Courts.

Apart from them, the other Godly Monarchs from other human factions had arrived here one after another.

With humanity, or perhaps it should be said the Chaos Heavens, facing a life-and-death crisis, it was praiseworthy that more than half the Godly Monarchs of humanity came despite knowing that it was a fatal endeavor. In fact, even for those Godly Monarchs who did not come, it was simply because the factions behind them wished to leave seeds for the continuation of their martial lineage.

Humanity, including the two patriarchs, had a total of thirty-two Godly Monarchs present.

Among them was the Taixia Ancient Mining’s Godly Monarch—Divineheart.

Godly Monarch Divineheart once met Yi Yun at the Xuanyuan Dune and established some ties. With his strength, he was considered relatively weak among the thirty-two Godly Monarchs. In the tumultuous turmoil, his strength did not even cause a stir.

Upon seeing the army that blotted out the sun above the Heavenly Courts, Divineheart felt wistful. Once upon a time, becoming a Godly Monarch was his greatest goal in life. He was already satisfied, but now, from the looks of it, he was nothing more than a tiny splash in the massive ocean.

“Polar, I’m here to slay Yi Yun in the name of the Ancestor God.”

The Divine Emperor towered over the humans in mid-air like a massive mountain. The Heavenly Courts’ palace appeared like toy houses made of wood beneath his feet.

Polar sat there silent, as though he did not hear him.

“Hand over Yi Yun!” the Divine Emperor said again. His words left everyone taken aback.

Was Yi Yun in the Heavenly Courts!?

Previously, the Divine Emperor had said that even if Yi Yun wiped the tracing mark from himself, Yi Yun’s location could be found by the Ancestor God ever since he interacted with the Chaos Heavens’ Heavenly Dao.

Everyone believed that Yi Yun might have found a secret place to hide or even escape the Chaos Heavens. But to their surprise, Yi Yun was actually inside the Heavenly Courts.

The Celestials’ pursuit of Yi Yun would naturally pass by the Heavenly Courts, so it became one of the most dangerous spots.

At that moment, there was no such thing as the most dangerous place being the safest place.

Polar still did not offer a response. He stood up slowly and floated into the sky. This continued until he reached a height equal to the Divine Emperor’s eye level.

“Do you not plan on handing him over?” Divine Emperor’s bronze face revealed a sarcastic smile. “Yi Yun seems to have maleficent thoughts. Despite knowing he’s about to die, he still uses your Heavenly Courts as a shield. If not, why would he choose his final hiding ground to be the Heavenly Courts? The Heavenly Courts is considered the core of humanity. By choosing this spot, is he planning on embroiling the Heavenly Courts and bringing about its destruction?”

As he spoke, Divine Emperor slowly extended his hand. In the middle of his palm, a gigantic axe appeared out of thin air.

The gigantic axe was made of metal and suffused a dark golden luster. No one doubted that the land would be split apart if the axe came cleaving down.

The Divine Emperor looked at Polar as if he was looking at a dead man.

Although the Ancestor God did not pursue the faults of the Ghost, Soul, and Fey patriarchs, it did not mean that he had turned a blind eye to the rebellious plot against him.

There was a price to betrayal. Apart from Yi Yun, someone had to be punished to assert his authority.

And this someone was undoubtedly Polar. For the past ten plus years, Polar’s rebellious intention had been clear. Even before Yi Yun appeared, Polar had incited others to rebel.

“From the looks of it, you plan on resisting?”

Other than Polar, none of the other patriarchs of the other races dared to fly to a height equal to the Divine Emperor. All of them looked up to him except Polar.

“You make it sound like you would intend to spare us.” Polar sneered. He was unafraid of death. Decades ago, back when he had attempted to ally the various Godly Monarchs from the Chaos Heavens together, he was already aware of the possibility of being killed in action.

“It’s fine if you die, but do you plan on having the entire Heavenly Courts accompany you in death?” Divine Emperor’s voice came with rich killing intent. If Polar went on his knees and allowed himself to be executed, he did not mind pardoning the Heavenly Courts.

However, if Polar intended to rebel, then the Divine Emperor would show no mercy. With an army numbering tens of millions, how could it not shed blood?

And the Heavenly Courts was the best sacrificial object.

The moment the Divine Emperor said that, the Ghost, Soul, and Fey Godly Monarchs lamented inwardly. The races behind them were their soft spot. They could not ignore them.

Was Polar mad? Was he unconcerned with the death of humanity?

Polar looked straight at the Divine Emperor. Despite facing the threat, he still did not show any signs of fear. All he did was let out a long sigh, looking somewhat doleful.

“We warriors have been cultivating our entire lives. What was it for? It’s not to enjoy riches or sex. Nor is it about being placed on a pedestal while enslaving those beneath us! We cultivate to fight against our fate! We do not wish to to let Samsara run its course, so we cultivate for years! Our martial heritage has been passed down for millions of years, billions of years, and will be so for trillions of years! It’s not for us to kneel down to beg for mercy after gaining mastery. With the backbone broken, there’s no way one can straighten one’s back. Since the Celestials wish to destroy my Heavenly Courts, my Heavenly Courts will be facing you in a battle of blood.”

Upon hearing Polar’s words, Divine Emperor was truly taken aback. He fell into a trance for a moment before he roared with laughter.

“Hahaha! One can still live with their backbone broken. In time, it’s still possible to recover with treasures. But the annihilation of a race would end with nothing. Polar, I never expected that all your disciples and grand-disciples, along with the Heavenly Courts, would have to accompany you in death because of a moment’s joy. If you wish so, I’ll make it happen!”

As the Divine Emperor spoke, the millions of demonic servants surrounded the Heavenly Courts.

They were setting up an array!

Once the array formation was set up, all they would need to destroy the Heavenly Courts would be a mere thought!

Upon seeing this situation, the Godly Monarchs from the Fey, Soul, and Ghost races were extremely unwilling, but they had no choice but to participate in this annihilative battle of targeting the Heavenly Courts.

They could could go through the motions, but they could not avoid the battle. Otherwise, the Ancestor God would be settling scores with them after annihilating humanity.

Just as the demonic servant army was setting up its array formation, the world suddenly began to tremble slightly. Thunderous sounds came out from deep underground like the angry bellow of an ancient divine beast.

The stir spread in every direction at an astonishing speed. If one pursued the shock wave with one’s perception, they would discover that the stirrings were not weakening as they spread. Instead, they were drawing on the powers of the Heaven and Earth, turning stronger and faster as they proceeded.

It appeared to be sweeping through the entire Chaos Heavens!

The numerous warriors of the Chaos Heavens were alarmed by this stir.

Just days ago, the Ancestor God’s activation of the massive array had already sent a stir in the Chaos Heavens. Was this the result of the Ancestor God again?

Ordinary warriors might have been baffled, but the Celestial’s Divine Emperor knew very well that this stirring had nothing to do with the Ancestor God!
