Chapter 35: Trespasser (1)

Dohyuk looked down at a huge city of sand. There were many buildings that looked like they were made out of sand and towards the center was a big building that had a tower that had erupted out from it. On top were the needles of Casita and above them were three four-winged angels, looking in different directions. There were also countless small white things, probably one-winged angels.

-Your heart is beating rapidly.

“…”

Dohyuk wasn’t surprised. It was a familiar voice.

“It’s you.”

-Hah, you don’t even know my name. I’m Basil. Remember it or I will blow your head off next time.

“You have business with me?”

-I can come whenever I want to. We don’t have anything to do in this trial unless you break a rule. I’m just bored. But then…

Basil asked,

-Where’s your sleeping bag? Did you lose it?!

“No.”

Dohyuk answered and looked around. It seemed that no one coming after him right now.

-Your race is quite peculiar. There are already thousands of you in this city at ‘this stage’. You all seem to know what you need to do. It’s as if you guys all shared the answers with each other.

“…”

-It doesn’t matter. The answer you guys found is quite a good one. But… that’s why you’re more interesting.”

Basil then approached him.

-Why are you different?

“Maybe I don’t know the answer that they know.”

-Then why don’t you just follow their path?

Basil spoke as he looked down. Within the streets, where Dohyuk could not see with his eyes, Basil was watching humans receive ‘missions’ from the Bermurans.

-It’s not hard. You just need to stay here for a while and do their bidding…

“Are you giving me advice?”

-What?

“I’m asking if you are giving me advice. I know that you are like an administrator in this damn game, but are you required to tell me the information that you just told me?”

-….!

No. In the current trial, there was no advice or help given by the angels. The intention was to force the humans to wander the desert for years and when they reached those cities, they would suffer because of the Bermurans. This was a trial that would make one spend years to overcome or lose their mind in the process.

However, these people were different, they seemed to know exactly what to do. They found the city quickly and received missions to work on.

-No… No.

Basil answered. He just said it as he thought Dohyuk would have known about it.

“I’ll just do what I need to do.”

Dohyuk turned away from Basil.

“I came across this city accidentally and went to the gate to see if I could get in…”

Dohyuk then tapped on his cheek.

“This crazy woman’s trace almost got me killed. It killed my friend, for one.”

-…

“Do I have any other choice? The sun is already up.”

Dohyuk spoke as he hooked the sickle onto the inner wall. Then Basil realized this man was ready to infiltrate the city.

-…So you killed a gatekeeper and broke in? And you plan to fight against the whole city?

The angel shook. He could not hold back his smile. This was the first time he felt this emotion since he was locked up in this damned body.

“Yeah.”

He had seen many worlds under the Order below the Sun. But no one throughout the entire dimension had chosen this route to defeat this trial. Trying to gain trust with Bermurans, it was always the first step to this trial. This was the only choice given to those weaklings.

“And you doing nothing is proof. You said you have to work if I break any rules.”

Dohyuk was different.

“It means I haven’t broken any rules for now.”

-….Yes.

Basil answered. The answer to the trial was one, but the way to get there was many. Doing Bermuran missions was just one of the easiest ways.

For example-

“The city attacked me first.”

Destroying the whole city and taking the treasure that symbolized ownership of the city would work.

“I’m just paying them back.”

Dohyuk knew about the trial. Yet he had chosen another way.

-You are walking into a hell.

Basil warned Dohyuk who was about to jump down.

-Bermurans… and Arugal. They don’t forgive any trespassers. The entire city will…

“F*ck them,” Dohyuk scoffed.

“Who’s trespassing where? Bastards.”

Then he jumped down and spoke, “It’s you all that trespassed first.”

“See?”

It was the first achievement that no one had acquired. Dohyuk went down into the city.

In the middle of Bermuran city,

“…”

Heeyun couldn’t speak. It was because of the message window.

-Capture a boy/girl under the age of 10 and transfer them to the Bermuran Priest Kadehp

-Reward: 4800 coins

-Reward decreases if offerings are damaged

-Repeat limit: 2

“Sacrifice…?”

“Insects cannot understand the word?”

The Bermuran priest scoffed as Heeyun was shocked.

“Bring young ones from your race so we can offer them as sacrifices to the Great Arugal, human girl.”

“…!”

Heeyun couldn’t answer as Kyuho grabbed her arm, bowed to the priest and dragged her off.

“But how…”

She was shocked. She had lived a few months in a changed world. She had killed someone and was ready to do so if needed. But an offering? Killing children as sacrifices?

“Hmmph. I think it’s a good mission. It’s going to be easy and we can do it twice.”

“A-are you crazy? We can’t-”

Before she could finish, Kyuho grabbed Heeyun’s neck.

“Don’t say that. I know what you want to say, but it makes me really irritated.”

“…!”

“Ugh… I guess you don’t have what it takes since you only had a few months. Look.”

Kyuho turned Heeyun’s face to the other side.
