White-Robed Chief
Chapter 61: Tracking

Chapter 61: Tracking

Zhao Ying did not bother to take the horse from the backyard. She quickly used her Light-body Technique and rushed back to the Public House like the wind. Then, she rode the boat to the East Garden. The atmosphere in the East Garden was still and quiet. It was as if everything in the East Garden had fallen asleep.

Zhao Ying disembarked and wasted no time in striking the Ancient Jade Xylophone. After that, she used the Light-body Technique once more and went inside.

The lights in the main bedroom were on and Li Yue was clothing himself as Zhao Ying entered the courtyard.

Zhao Ying called him through the window. “Brother Li Yue, where is Brother Chu Li?”

“Ah, it’s Sister Zhao Ying.” Li Yue pushed open the door and yawned. He walked out in bare feet and asked in a tired voice, “He did not return tonight. Why are you looking for him this late at night?”

He went to sleep quite late, thus, he did not get enough sleep after Zhao Ying woke him up. Now, he felt drowsy and was rather lethargic.

“Did not return?!” Zhao Ying stomped her feet in frustration and prompted further. “Chen Ying got kidnapped! We have to find Brother Chu Li quickly! Is he at Jade Guardian Island?”

“Chen Ying?” Li Yue instantly became wide awake — the sudden news was like a bucket of cold water on his head. His eyes widened in disbelief. “Kidnapped? By who?”

“We didn’t see the kidnappers’ face!” Zhao Ying yelled out impatiently, “We need to go to Jade Guardian Island!”

“You can’t.” Li Yue shook his head. “Jade Guardian Island has very tight security. You won’t be able to get in!”

“A life is at stake! The Third Lady will understand!”

Li Yue shook his head again. “There are layers upon layers of security at the island. We don’t even know how long it will take to report the situation… So, we will have to do it another way!”

He walked over to a small tree at a corner of the courtyard. The tree had been planted not too long ago and was only as thick as a pinkie. He kicked the tree with all his might and pulled it out of the ground. Looking at the broken tree, he let out a deep sigh. “He will come back in a while, Sister Zhao Ying. Be patient! Be patient!”

Zhao Ying furrowed her brows, then looked at him and the small tree on the ground. She had no idea why he did that.

Li Yue pointed at the tree and explained, “This is the Nexus Tree. A pair of Nexus Trees are like a couple — if one dies then the other cannot live too. Brother Chu Li will see this and know that something is wrong!”

“Will it really work?” Zhao Ying was full of doubt. “He should be asleep by now. How will he have time to look at the tree?”

“Don’t worry,” Li Yue shook his head and reassured her. “Even if he is in deep sleep, he will know right away if a tree dies! Oh yes, how did Chen Ying get kidnapped? Could it be a rapist?”

“Who knows?” Zhao Ying frowned and shook her head frantically. “It would be bad if the kidnapper was really a rapist!”

If Chen Ying was kidnapped by a sex-hungry rapist, then it will be too late by the time they find her. The thought of it made her even more anxious.

She hated her own helplessness and inability. She did not know what to do when faced with a situation like this, so she had no choice but to look for Brother.

She decided that she had to reach the Innate Mastery’s boundary. She could not continue to rely on him every time something popped up.

“What’s the matter?” Chu Li’s voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts. He glided through the air and landed in front of them. He was still wearing his white sleepwear but was holding his Emerald Tipped Sword in one hand.

“Brother, you are finally here!” Li Yue clapped his hand in joy and gestured at him to follow. “Quick, we will explain on the way!”

Chu Li dismissed it with a wave of his hand and asked, “There’s no need to rush. Sister, what happened?”

“Brother, Chen Ying was kidnapped when she was walking back home!” Zhao Ying eyes reddened as she started to tear up.

Chu Li frowned. “Chen Ying?”

Zhao Ying nodded vigorously.

Chu Li immediately activated his Omniscient Mirror. “We’ll talk on the boat!”

“Let’s go!” Li Yue quickly exclaimed.

Chu Li turned him down with a wave of his hand. “Brother Li Yue, you stay.”

“I can help too!” Li Yue was confused and tried to defend himself.

However, Chu Li simply shook his head. “You need to guard the East Garden.”

“You really don’t need my help?” Li Yue was unhappy about his dismissal and asked again.

Chu Li sighed and coaxed him, “If anything happened to the East Garden, we will all be in trouble. Don’t worry, I will take care of the problem!”

“… Okay, you should hurry up then.” Li Yue stopped arguing and surrendered himself to the decision.

Chu Li nodded before putting one arm around Zhao Ying’s waist and leaping out of the Public House. They reached the girls’ home in a matter of moments where they saw the girls waiting for them nervously.

Chu Li activated the Omniscient Mirror and saw the scene in their minds. Based on the silhouettes they were thinking of, Chu Li was sure that one of the men was Feng Wen and the other one was his servant. Those audacious swine! They must have had no regard for their lives for them to do something like this in Chong Ming Town!

“I’ll go look for her. Sister, you stay here and accompany them!” Chu Li ordered angrily.

Zhao Ying immediately protested, “I will follow you!”

If the worst were to happen, then Chu Li could not do anything to help her as he was a man. However, as a woman, Zhao Ying could talk to Chen Ying and help comfort her.

Chu Li frowned. “There will be a fight. Are you sure you really want to follow?”

Zhao Ying looked at him with determination. “Brother, I’m not as useless as you think! Two persons are better than one!”

“Fine,” Chu Li succumbed — it would benefit her to learn more about the world as well, “be prepared for a fight. Let’s go!”

Zhao Ying quickly grabbed the sword from the table and tied it around her waist.

The two of them leaped out of the house and soon arrived at the corner of the street. Chu Li immediately spotted and examined the footprints. With his Omniscient Mirror, Feng Wen and his servant’s footprints were as obvious as the moon in the clear night sky.

He kept the Omniscient Mirror turned on as they continued the leaped around until they reached the towering town wall. They scaled the wall effortlessly before jumping over and landing on the other side.

Chu Li could detect all footprints within a radius of 3 miles. They continued running for 20 miles before they finally arrived at a manor. Upon seeing it, they became dead quiet and snuck in.

The manor was engulfed in silence. Only the small courtyard and the main bedroom was lit up.

Chen Ying had curled herself up at a corner of the bed in the bedroom. Her clothes had been torn and her eyes were wide with fear. She was waving her hands in front of her vigorously, fighting off and preventing the wickedly smiling Feng Wen from coming near her.

Feng Wen was naked waist up. He was smiling evilly and slowly approaching Chen Ying like a cat playing with a mouse. He enjoyed teasing and watching Chen Ying’s frightened expression. He was so excited that he couldn’t control himself.

“Bang!” The door was kicked open. Feng Wen turned and glared at the source of the interruption in anger.

When he saw that it was Chu Li and Zhao Ying, not only was he not afraid, but his eyes actually lit up at the sight of Zhao Ying.

Under the dim lighting, Zhao Ying’s skin appeared fair and smooth. She looked gorgeous. Feng Wen’s lust filled mind could not help but ogle at her.

Chu Li stepped forward and stabbed him with his sword.

“Uh…” Feng Wen was dumbfounded as he stared at Chu Li in disbelief. He looked down at the long sword in his chest and reached at it to attempt to pull it out.

However, Chu Li quickly swung his sword and Feng Wen’s body was flung through the air.

“Bam!” He crashed through the window and landed in the pitch-black courtyard outside.

Chen Ying immediately threw herself into Chu Li’s arm and began crying loudly.

Chu Li had no impure thoughts even though a beautiful girl was in his arms, instead, he only felt sympathy for her.

Chen Ying’s delicate and soft body was shaking uncontrollably like a frightened little bird. She looked pitiful. He patted her back and sighed, feeling bad for her. Her bad fortune had caused her to suffer again.

Zhao Ying surveyed the room and let out a long sigh. Fortunately, they made it in time. If they arrived even a moment later, then something irreversible would have happened. She had her heart in her mouth the whole time and now she could finally let out a breath of relief.

Chu Li patted Chen Ying and comforted her. “Don’t worry, he is dead.”

Zhao Ying walked out to the courtyard to check on the corpse. She stabbed the body repeatedly to vent her anger. This type of scum was better off dead.
