Guys I was wondering, how do you think Donghua will pace itself?? I feel like its impossible to complete volume 1 in 12 episodes. I really hope they dont take creators liberty and cut sh*t they thinks isnt important out. Like I feel they probably delay the 4 emperor stuff and some of the world building. But I'm really worried they will cut Benson Melissa screentime. Because "They dont even appear later." Or cut his acting in the Divination club.

Definitely recommended to re read this first before reading part 2. I failed to remember most of the details here after reading it at least 3-4 years ago.

I feel weird at having your consciousness divided or shared between multiple versions representing you and proving you are who you think you are The city Utopia was a wonderful creative piece of the story that CF wrote- an act of severance from self, to find out which one your true self is, mixed in with a touch of whimsical grim that could scare you into hiding and yet you'll find it difficult to resist that beauty of accomplishment that you've sorted yourself out! I'm taking my utmost time to materialize and write how Klein must have felt through his journey, or maybe he didn't feel this dramatic, because he looked... disconnected? And he wasn't one to blame for that. 4th time revisiting the chapter- "I"🤌🏻 An absolute pleasure to delve into LOTMs world

Just a question, for people who are finishing the 1st volume so( Chapter 213) on their 1st read, how good was it? The introduction, the mc, the plot and the finale? People who are rereading just give you a biased take on it because they enjoy the rest of the novel and are blinded to the clear flaws in the introduction of this novel. BeAr wiTh iT, ItS GOnNa MaKe SeNse lAtEr, new readers lowkey get scammed by this and dont realize they gotta put up with like a 100 chapters of boring filler as introduction and there's just too much information rn that wont make sense till wayyy later on. The lore in the novel might become amazing later on but the early chapters just put you to sleep and theres wayy too much detail given to such unnecessary sequences and im not complaining abt lack of action, the storys pacing is just too d*mn slow. The finale was amazing but the entirety of the arc is like a 6.5 or 7 at best becauses there are too many painstakingly long and boring sequences.

when I read for the first time like you, I also feel the same it’s feel too overhyped and it remain the same until I finish the book.. But after I finished the book I suddenly feel the hyped and yea it’s like you learn a new world rather then write a novel so yea it’s a very unique feeling.. So yea after my reread it suddenly become much sense and very good because I already understand how the world work.. and the mc is really goated.. u will notice when it’s near the end. The finale is perfect but it’s very sad.

I understand Volume 1 is slow but it is also a foundation for the rest of the story when I read what he goes through in rest of the Volumes I actually Symphatized alot with him and came to understand that the only time he was truly happy was in Volume 1. It's all my personal opinion by the way and different people have different understanding of it.

Please mention how you think it could have been better. Why do you think it was only a scam incorporated by the Fandom? Why do you think it was not worth the hype or the review? The starting especially. If you criticize it, you've got to have a valid standpoint right?

I mean clearly mentionned a few points as is but sure I'll elaborate for you. The pacing is atrocious, the 1st 60-70 chapters are straight filler and could have been cut very short. The chapters as is are pretty long and if you truly enjoy excruciating detail about day to day life then idk man. Story takes too long to progress, there is the overall progress of the mystery element( antigonus book, the secret societies...)and all that but most of these dont have much relevance and clarity on the topic till the 100th chapter mark. There isn't much compelling about the 1st volume aside from its conclusion and it isnt a attention deficiency problem ( if you want the story to start paying off by the 150th chapter mark then nobody is gonna be reading this). The story does progres quite well after the 1st volume but it just feels like you gotta push through 200 chapters of borderline okay writing to get to the good parts of the novel.

To an extent, I do agree that the overinformation was mixed with unexplained lore in the beginning, stuff that could easily confuse newbies. Pacing was a bit of my vibe because I've been through many slow, killing paced novels (which could quickly develop into engaging plot twists though). Although I am struggling with reverend insanity where I cannot find something to hold onto and I've also dropped it temporarily for about 2months At around 150 ig I was convinced that the incident with Old Neil was the set-off to a good enough pace

Yeah I agree, the novel is very hyped and most people have it as their top 3 and more often then not at 1 but im just buying time rn cuz I'm all caught up with shadow slave so starting something new. After old neils death, the story really picks up and honestly his death does affect you a little even though we only knew him for like 130 chapters. The pacing might be problematic but thats only through the lens of a 1st time reader where it can be kinda offputting at times. The storytelling starts to get more intriguing towards the end of the volume and the world and the lore buildup starts paying off and the little mysteries reveal themselves and the overall experience tends to become more enjoyable after the 1st volume. I am looking forward to the the rest of the story because the storytelling is getting more fleshed out. But the people who keep saying its good and everything pays off tend to be misleading because the story does take a while to kick in.

The main problem with you is your overexpectation with the novel... Many people like myself started loving it along the journey and not from the first volume...And its not a scam like every classical fantasy books has slow beginning...furthermore everyone and their mothers have been saying that first volume is slow and info heavy...you gotta listen to them and manage your expectations...Still the plot points and seemingly random info that has been put out will become relevant in later volumes... that's when you can truly appreciate the first volume other than that i agree its slow i myself had dropped it twice

I think you missed three things 1-the author had to balance introduction to the world in general then to the world of mysticism while advancing multiple plot threads, expecting perfect pacing is impossible 2- the translation of the first hundred chapter were rough, Chinese and English are very different 3-the author simply got better and so did the story with him If you read the reviews it's no secret that the first volume is slow and kinda boring up to a point

Check out my review in the review section, where I focus solely on volume 1. In my opinion, if you approach LoTM as a Mystery novel, you'll absolutely love it. However, if you from the start expecting an Action novel, you might find it boring to death. But I guess attention span deficiency is a norm nowadays 😒

The start of the novel is a snoozefest. Honest take here, it only starts to get somewhat interesting after 150 chapters when "something happens to 1 of the nighthawks". Pacing is atrocious in the early stages of the volume but the mystery aspects tend to become more serious towards the last 60 chapters of the volume. From what I've read so far the 1st volume is likely just a prerequisite to the world building and the power system, sort of a very boring stepping stone for further advancements. Only people who are rereading the volume after finishing the novel tend to appreciate it because of certain foreshadowing and hints on a 2nd read but for 1st time readers its just painstakingly boring to get through the early chapters because of the excess of information that doesnt make much sense till wayyyy later on. Im on volume 2 and I really enjoyed the end of volume 1 but its a tough read tht u gotta push through.

Every detail is important. It's a slow starter, I was so bored that this was in my library for an entire year and it took me 6 months to roll through first 300 chapters, then it took me 2 days to reach chapter 800 and am still reading..I am so freaking hooked to it.

Be aware though I am at chapter 130 now and nothing interesting has happened and the worst thing is every chapter is just too d*mn long and takes forever to read and you can't even skimm through it becoz you won't understand the next chapter . It took me seven months to reach 130. At this rate i might finish col 1 at end of 2024

The first 20 chapter took me a week to read lol. It's really boring. But all of those was a build up for the volume 1. It get really good after chapter 200 after every thing get revealed PS: the cooking part painfully boring. Just skip it. It's absolutely unimportant.

The pace will pick up slowly. The first volume is basically the base of the story and introduction and the hype will only start after 100 chapters or so. And the ending for volume one is when the store gets serious.
